Personally I prefer slightly more modern style, the carpets in the corridors are pretty dark. Didn’t affect the quality of our stay.

Perfectly located right in the center of Metz. Very nice historic building. Breakfast was fantastic, so was our lunch.

The bed was terribly hard, much like sleeping on the floor. The furniture was dingy and had chips and dings. The lamps were crooked. We had to fix the shower to make it work. The front desk staff were disinterested and seemed bothered if you asked for directions. Since we spoke French to them it was not a language issue. For the price and a four star it was a bit disappointing.

The location was great. The history around it was so interesting. The property was attractive in some areas. The room had lots of natural light. The cleaning staff were very kind and thoughtful.

Brilliant location in Metz as a first stop on our journey through France to Switzerland The staff were extremely welcoming, interactive and embarrassingly all spoke good English, something we brits need to return better Restaurant was excellent and provided a gastronomic meal for day 1 of or 13 day experience Room was fantastic and shower brilliant followed by a lovely breakfast to set us on our way We accidentally left something in the room which they posted onto us

Two things could have been better. First, someone had a small dog that would not be quiet, that's not acceptable. Second, the bathroom shower had no good way to position the hand piece that would not send water outside the partially enclosed space.

The restaurant doesn’t allow dogs (which we knew when we booked). We were told that we would be directed to dog friendly restaurants in the city but the duty staff were unaware of this and didn’t have a list of suitable places. Small issue (we found a nice bistro near the cathedral) but not as billed.

Said dog friendly but found this only meant dogs could stay in the room and not allowed anywhere else, understood policy once there and fair enough but good to be fully aware before hand. Parking not so good. Inability to secure a guaranteed parking place on site, parking available in local underground car park but our car with roof box would not fit. Managed to find outside space in non designated parking area and got away with it but not ideal
