The bathroom, whilst fine for the younger, needs a handle/bar to help and reassure people of my age when getting into the bath/shower.

It was great to stay in a special, individual hotel rather than the soulless boxes which charge astronomical prices for the same every time. The reception rooms are splendidly elegant and comfortable, and the dining room beautifully appointed with views onto a lovely garden. The staff are helpful and pleasant, making your stay even better. You felt like a valued individual, not a room number.

Breakfast was not included and slightly overpriced in our view (€27 for just croissant/juice/coffee). Room/hotel was not great value but it was Easter weekend.

Spacious room with good bed (firm mattress which we like) and walking distance (just about; 20-25mins to old town) from city centre. Free parking on site which was very helpful as it was a busy weekend and the parking was full almost everywhere. Nice old building with character but could do with a bit of maintenance. Perfect for exploring Saint Malo, Cote de Granite and broader Brittany

A wonderful spacious room, with a large bathroom that looked out towards the garden. The historic character of the room and its furniture made it feel unique rather than impersonal. Part of a home rather than a hotel chain.

Noise from the fridge, the motor kept switching on every half hour during the night.

The room was large with a comfy bed and there was an excellent sized bathroom. The property and gardens are lovely. A super lounge area situated on the first flight of stairs added to the ambiance.

Our room had no shower and had to take a shower in the bathtub. Maybe other rooms has one.

Large room, nice decorated. Very nice frindly staff. Located close to a nice bay and beach (500 mt). Hotel has no escalator and restaurant. At the Bay you'll find several pretty restaurants.

Faulty Towers springs to mind The manager was not there and had to be contacted by the remaining staff as the booking was not known to them. These two ladies were lovely. Despite the language barrier, it was clear that the manager was very pushy with the staff over the phone. Despite declining the offer of a more expensive room, we were shown to more expensive room before the one we had booked. Our room was very dated and had a musty smell to it so much, so we slept with the large window wide open. Frankly, my partner would rather have stayed in our converted van, but having already booked and paid, we decided to stay and checked out before breakfast, using the facilities on the ferry instead.

Being charged an additional amount for a quiet room, without being advised upfront, which turned out not to be quiet as the occupants above were very heavy footed.

When I booked a double room Malouinière Le Valmarin I clicked on ‘Double Room’ to book and was shown various photographs of the rooms available - the price for 3 nights was €329.40 including taxes and charges. On arrival we were told that there was only one double room available for people who booked a double room on Booking.com. The lady who I presumed was the owner said that this room was not very good as we would hear people walking up and down the main staircase. Also there was a very steep staircase down to the bathroom which was not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. The lady then tried to ‘upsell’ us a different room - one at €40 per night more, which we refused, and one at €8 per night extra. We had no choice but to accept the latter one as the steep staircase down to the bathroom was not suitable and also not mentioned on the booking information. The room we were now paying €8 a night extra for was shown as one of the options for our original booking. The lady told us that every room at Le Valmarin has a different price and insisted that I have to pay the extra amount. There was also a hard sell to take the ‘optional’ breakfast. We had breakfast on the first morning but declined for the next two days and were grilled as to why we didn’t want it. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room even though this was stated as included on our booking. When I queried this I was told that we could have this facility if we paid breakfast. On checkout I disputed the bill but was forced to pay €386.90 which included €27 for breakfast x 2. I considered this an overcharge of €30.5. I have been a long standing customer with Booking.com and have never had reason to complain but I really feel that this lady is very dishonest and the photographs of other bedrooms should be removed from your site or shown with their respective rates. Also reference should be made to the steep staircase in the only bedroom she claims to be selling on your site.
