Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomVery difficult to find a negative;
This hotel can only be described in superlatives, from the moment you are arrive the staff are cheerful and welcoming. a family run hotel, this is reflected in staff relationships. The room was spacious and conveniently located on the first floor with great views acrosss the auvergne; The evening meal was of high quality and very generous, questioning the need for a breakfast in the morning. Salers itself is a worthy venue and the hotel is located close to the entrnce to the village with good parking.

CanadaRestaurant was underwhelming, extremely slow service, and the meat, of all things in this region, was very disappointing. Other than breakfast, I wouldn’t eat there again.

United KingdomMy only complaint was that the shower over the bath was difficult to control and the glass ‘barrier was too small, which made it difficult not to get water on the floor. The basin didn’t seem to be able to fill with water and I was obliged to shave under a running tap.
Modern and spotlessly clean. Marie, the receptionist was warm, welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. A delightful room with 2 windows (electric blinds) and a small balcony.

United KingdomNot the fault of the hotel, but it was advertised on the booking.com site as having no parking. Looking at the place on Google Earth it was obvious there was a very adequate size car park and so I completed my booking. Others may have been put off!
Great restaurant, great staff and well run hotel. Swimming pool a wonderful bonus in the high 30s that week! Best place to stay in such a lovely area.

IrelandThe only thing I didn't like was the flies in the dining room at breakfast. It was a cloudy day and the windows were closed so the flies became quite irritating.
The hotel is lovely - the road up to it from the la meridienne side is hairy to say the least. We loved the pool which was great on a lovely sunny day.

FranceBreakfast, what also means the starting of the day and if we consider the standards of this property, remained three consecutive days the weak point of my stay. The breakfast room itself has no charm and the tables outside are not enough clean. The choice is rather poor, no cooked ham, no fried eggs, only a kind of bread not enough fresh, tasteless coffee. On rhe other hand, it should be a good idea to equip windows with white curtains and avoid to cut the grass just after eight in the morning.
A very cute and luminous bedroom. A real gastronomic restaurant where it was a pleasure to be and eat, indoors or outdoors.

United KingdomOpen plan bathroom with bedroom was not what we were expecting. Maybe a cultural thing.
Dinner and breakfast was excellent. Our room was great although open plan toilet/shower/ bedroom was unexpected. Great hotel position for exploring the most picturesque village of Salers. Spectacular views to be had a minutes walk from the hotel. Good service from staff. Went slightly out of season so nice and quiet.

United KingdomThere was a heatwave but no air conditioning, so with windows open why start the Niagara Falls water feature at 6am? Unusual decor, there was a window in the bathroom but it didn't open, and the separate WC was in a tiny box room with no ventilation. Overall quite uncomfortable.
Great location and a truly fantastic restaurant, we had an amazing meal. Good parking and nice pool.

AustraliaThere were few facilities in the room for travelling. No fan, no iron, no small refrigerator to keep water or milk cold even though it had a kettle . Very hot room, and due to mosquitos difficult to leave window open. Restaurant was poor, having waited over an hour for our meal to be served, red wine was served chilled. Senior male waiter out of his depth. Meal however was satisfactory.
Location, parking, Marie the receptionist was excellent, friendly and accommodating. Salers is a beautiful village and well worth the visit.

United KingdomThe reason for the low overall assessment was the performance of the restaurant on the first night. My steak was overcooked - bien cuit not a point - and it took a long time for them to act on my complaint about this, taking three calls to get them to change it. They also forgot our wine order - another call for service being needed with the waiting staff seeming to be ignoring us. The manager seemed incapable of understanding our dissatisfaction or why we were upset and left before completing of the menu we had ordered. There were no apologies of course. In contrast the other staff were excellent.
