Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandA bit outdated hotel environment, the room was very small (but maybe it is a common thing in the Paris city centre).

Authentic Parisian housing, really close to the metro station and good cafes and restaurants.

United StatesTheres no lift, so ask for a low floor if you have a lot of luggage. And my shower was missing a glass pane, so water got everywhere. Otherwise no problems.
The furnishing of the room and bathroom were new and looked great, as were the facilities, plus I had a balcony. The staff were pretty friendly as well.

United KingdomWe were on the 4th floor and there is quite a few steps to get up there. I think this is quite normal for Paris though. The only other thing was the timed light. We arrived at night and took us awhile to get up the stairs with all our bags. The light kept going out and we didn't know where the light switches were. Wish there was tea and coffee making facilities in the room.
Loved the location! Was easy to get to places. Pigalle metro is just down the road. Up the road you have Montmartre. The rooms were also very clean and were cleaned everyday.

GermanyYou need to be aware of very narrow stairs and corridors, as stated on the website, there is no lift (I did not dislike this, but want to mention the situation again). The "lobby" is bare minimum of a communicative place to handle the booking and payment. The staff uses a corner of the room to spend the time/night, while the guest service takes place at a tiny desk in the middle of the small lobby. It was not possible that I get a bill for my booking, only the card payment receipt of the payment terminal. The price for my booking listed in the present paper book (there was no computer at the desk) was ~10% higher than the price in booking.com - i assume there is some city tax, but this is not billed/invoced separately.
The hotel location is perfect for a stay in Paris. Bars and Restaurants can be found easily in the surroundings and the metro is very close. Although the room is small, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was relatively new.

United KingdomThe room was very clean and tidy with daily cleaners coming in, the bedding was all clean and bed was comfy! Great location in the heart of Montmartre and on the doorstep of Pigalle station which was perfect for getting around the city. The staff were very kind and accommodating as well as easy to contact via the booking.com chat. We requested a room with a balcony which provided a view of Parisian streets. Would definitely stay again!

IrelandThe walls seemed to be made out of paper mache, as we could hear everything our neighbours were up to, from showering to talking to the throes of lovemaking. The room upgrade was much appreciated however it was on the 5th floor with no elevator, which gave the end of every day of walking around Paris one final hurdle. Worst complaint was that there was a strong smell of sewage that emanated from the sink, and at times enveloped the whole room. It was vile and at times made staying in the room a struggle. Overall, a mixed bag
The hotel was very accommodating and upgraded our room when I informed them that the trip was for my girlfriends birthday. The location is very good and close to 2 metro stops. Plenty of nice cafés and eateries nearby. The room was quite clean

GermanyThe room and the hotel quite old. The blanket was rather thin for cold weather in Paris. Every morning there was so much noise from the garbage tracks, so, if you're a light sleeper, this is not a good choice. The hotel doesn't have an elevator and the stairs are rather steep and narrow. It also could have been cleaner.
The location is great, right next to the metro station, Montmartre and Moulin Rouge. Several supermarkets nearby, short train ride to the city center and the main train stations. Good value for money if you go to the room just to sleep.

The morning guy was great though. He was so kind. In addition to this it was so hard to step 5 floors from the stairs. But overall it was a great hotel compared to other affordable Parisian hotels
