Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

PortugalThe heating (AC) was working poorly, and the 2 extra conventional heaters were very old and the wheels underneath were mostly gone. We worried it could be a fire hazard but used them anyway as we were cold. The window didn't close properly which caused a cold draft (it was very cold outside). We had no hot water the first night as they had forgotten to turn it on and the night personnel didn't know what to do, so we had to wait until the next day to have hot water. Also the 3rd bed had not been prepared and had no bed sheets. The kitchenette was very poorly equipped: only 2 spoons (for 3 people), no salt or other condiments, no complimentary tea or coffee, no detergent for the dish washer or to do the dishes by hand, nothing to clean the surfaces or to do the dishes by hand.
The bed was good. The room was reasonably clean, the bathroom too. It was overall a good room, and quiet too.

Portugalthe city tax was charged at the hotel rather than upfront, not only is it ridiculous to have a city tax but it should have been charged when renting the room.

JapanThis apartment is adjacent to a standard Mercury hotel and it shares a reception staff. Clearly, they put more weight on the hotel operation, there is very little work to make the apartment attractive. Other big hotel chains dedicate longer.staying type accommodation brand, such as Staybridge by IHG and Residence Inn by Marriott. Mercury is not in the same league yet.

Austriadifference between mercure apparthotel and hotel maybe? apparthotel room was not properly cleaned. hair of previous guests in the bathroom, on the toilet and shower. the floor was not properly clean (still some food on the floor) the worst part was really the smell of the room. you didn’t get out the smell of whatever was cooked in there. so we always had to have the windows open because it was really disgusting. maybe it’s also the carpeted floor that is really old. i could have lived with all the minor side steps in regards to the cleaning part but the smell was unfortunately a no go.
the location is quite good, not so far away from the metro. the room itself has comfortable beds

Irelandwe booked 3 x 2 bed apartments for 3 families. at reaching the hotel they only gave one apartment and gave 2 separate rooms each to the other 2 families with little kids. after a lot of arguing did they gave another apartment. do not take the booking if you intend to do that and not provide rooms that we have booked. the reception people were very rude, unresponsive and unreasonable all the time. we gave up eventually since it was only 2 nights.

United StatesThere was one switch in the room that didn't work that I think went to a fan in the bathroom. It was not a big deal at all and it perhaps went to something else. I didn't bother asking staff for help because it didn't impact our comfort in the least. We loved staying here and only wish we could have had a few more nights.
Finding this room/apartment was a complete lifesaver. The kitchen and private balcony were unexpected pleasures. The breakfast was amazing and the staff was so friendly and helpful. This was a great place for my daughter and I to stay for a few nights while we took in as much of Paris as we could in a few short days.

United KingdomThe twin beds were really small and not that comfortable. The shower hose had a hole as it was leaking everywhere. The room wasn’t cleaned and we stayed 3 nights so the bin in the kitchen was full and also only given 1 roll of toilet paper. Had to call for one. Beware that parking is a disaster at the hotel, it was full when we checked in and not even able to book for space for the following days. So had to find a space on arrival and costs are ridiculously high (€35 a day!). Will definitely not stay there again unfortunately. The cons outweighs the pros.
The location is ideal as close to a Metro stop (Porte St Cloud) and buses. There’s also plenty of shops, boulangeries, chemists etc and all walking distance. The air-con in the room works really well (glad it did as it was 30 degrees outside!) and self catering apartment (however no complimentary shower gels or dish soap to do the dishes!!!)
