Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelgiumWe waited for 50 minutes to check-in, nobody was there. We called 3 times, no answer. Door was open. We saw a room, which looked really bad. We paid 140 euros for a very bad service (well, no service) and a very bad looking room.So we went and searched for another guesthouse. (At the other guesthouse we paid 83 euro for great service, a great room and nice view.) I called back to the owner to complain, he hung up on me. I called back, his wife hung up on me too.

United StatesThis is a restaurant with rooms. No reception; no TV; no bar; no lounge; no wall dressings( paintings etc). In Latin “ De Minimus”. I would never recommend this place for overnight. You are literally on your own.

United KingdomI don't like putting negative comments but I can't really find anything about this CdHotes that warrants a second visit, at all. We are in the same business and like to give the benefit of the doubt, but not here. Other than initial friendly greeting from the owner, we were faced with no key for locking bedroom and a stranger entered the bedroom after I had just got out of the shower, part of the shower was broken too; there was small old mattress which was extremely uncomfortable, a stuffy room with no chance of openening windows due to mozzies. The member of staff waiting on in the bar restaurant who made comment that as we were only ordering drinks we could only stay on the terrace area, not at the seating outside of restaurant, with no encouragement by asking if we wanted to eat. After ordering drinks, we decided against eating as the glasses were filthy and lead much to be desired. To order a second drink it took forty five minutes, and only after he asked if we wanted to settle the bill??! There were no excuses for being busy, there were only 6 people, including ourselves in the bar/restaurant. We were over charged for drinks too. There was little chance of a good night's sleep due not only to the bed, but thin walls and ceilings. Oh, if you want to pay in the day when reserving online, be warned. A message came from Hotel to say after making reservation that you could pay on the day but money was withdrawn immediately, so check your bank statements!
Clean bedding, nice location. That's it

United KingdomLack of care for our comfort and well being. We had booked the room for a 2 night stay some weeks before. En route to the hotel we had a phone call from the hotel. I rang back 3 times. Nobody answered the phone. When we got thee after after a 7 hour journey from N France we rang the hotel owners. The wife came down to see us. The owner Eric Fleury shouted to us from a window on the 3 rd floor and did not have the manners to come and talk to us. They said there was a problem with the plumbing in the room allocated to us and we couldn’t use it. What was not made clear to us as to why we were being asked to give up our room when we had booked some time ago. We had stayed there twice before and were looking forward to 2 days by the river. They then said that they had booked us into a hotel some 14 km away. We drove to the hotel. The chef patron said that they had not received a booking in any way from Chouvigny. But also he couldn’t take us as he did not take dogs. We found this deceitful , uncaring and frankly incompetent behaviour. We then had to spend a lot of time on booking.com trying to find a room in a hotel that took dogs. We eventually found one in Clermont Ferrand about 30 miles away after a very long drive. We would not recommend anyone to book there. Also we think that booking.com should remove them from your listing as they did not honour the booking or offer any compensation

FranceThere were no frills and there was no decor in the room of any sort.
We loved the location. A little off the beaten track beside a beautiful river. The room was simple but super clean which I liked. The accompanying restaurant with it balcony over the river bank was lovely and the food was good. Felt good to be supporting a local business rather than going mainstream to a faceless hotel. Breakfast was at an additional cost but with fresh pressed orange juice and homemade strawberry jam it was a pleasant experience. Certainly a place to relax and take a step away from the rat race.
