How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

The wooden floors make a lot of noise. It's impossible to go to the bathroom at night without waking the spouse up. And you can hear the noise from other rooms. The toilet is separate from the bathroom and is too small, and a bit smelly. But then again it's a very old property. There are bound to be such things.
The Room view is amazing. The food in the restaurant is an amazing experience. And the breakfast is superb. The Staff are very very friendly and very very helpful. A unique experience.

The outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi was declared as usable in winter (to my understanding at all). However the pool is not warm enough for winter usage and jacuzzi is far away from the exit. Too cold to get there :)

This hotel features outstandingly practical and beautiful rooms with a premium sight across the city of Lyon. Its Location over both rivers, the short walk up to the church hill and to the Beef street is the most practical in Lyon. The restaurant and spa facilities are outstanding, the service is excellent. Staff is efficient and service ready. I especially loved the historical layout of the building. Its easy to get lost.

The hike up 😊.
Beautiful grounds, pool, view. Very pleasant, attentive staff. Nice size room, big bathroom. Super dog-friendly, we really appreciated it!

just one small thing, it was nice to have a separate toilet from the bathroom at opposite sides of the bedroom, but would have been good the have a small sink in the toilet as well.
Excellent and high level service by well trained staff, who were warm friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a great location with fantastic views perfect for sightseeing, shopping and entertainment. Parking on site, safe and secure with valet service.

Starts to look a bit dated. Room smelled of damp. Going to the room was a bit of a maze (2 different lifts).

loved everything about hotel, However the road leading to hotel is a little difficult due to narrow street, but that is not unusual in charming older towns.

Amazing place! Former monastery turned into a luxury hotel but what it really sets apart is the amazing staff. Never ever stay anywhere else in Lyon.

If you don't have your own car make sure you take a taxi. At the train station the first taxi refused to go there (no idea why) and told us to take the tube - shocker, since it's a hugely long and uphill walk if you do that. Even if you take the funicular it's still quite a hike. So just make sure you get there by car!
Wonderful location, and hotel generally, once you get there! Staff are super helpful and the top floor swimming pool / bar area was great.

If there is something to mention ....and that goes to a very personal taste - I would recommend to have either or design or antique furnitures for the rooms. It would fit better and would support the overall charme of this location as these very traditional furnitures.....but as I wrote...this is a very sujective view and my personal matter of taste.
What to say - a stunning loaction for a 5 star hotel situated in a former monastry with an overviewing city look of Lyon. Great Breakfast, well trained, friendly and foremost anticipating staff. Nice Pool & Jacuzzi with a great view to Lyon.

the 1000’s wasps by the swimming pool and by the terrassse which make it really hard to enjoy breakfast or a swim and the fact that the poor waiters/waitresses have to wear full on suits while doing their job by 40 degrees heat! surely management can do better than that…
