Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceThe food was too fancy and choice too limited. Need additional selection of simple foods. No bar snacks to have with an apero.
The room was excellent with a fridge, seating area, outside seating area. Lovely decor.

United StatesMy wife and I discovered this hotel, fleeing from extreme heat, which made our vacation nearly impossible. We were pleasantly surprised when we saw this beautiful chateau and received a complementary upgrade to a gorgeous suite with plenty of space, period furniture and, needless to say, quiet air conditioning. The restaurant on the property was magnificent, with its impressive décor, large selection of gourmet entries, and excellent service. XO Hardy cognac from handcrafted crystal bottle was unforgettable. We look forward to staying at this magnificent place next time!

United KingdomThe room had not been cleaned when we returned after our walk. This was rectified while we were out so was not a big problem.
Great views. Lovely terrace to sit and have a drink and also for breakfast and dinner. A typical french breakfast, pastries, lovely fromage blanc and fresh fruit salad. A great walk down through their wooded grounds to the banks of the river Charente. Quite a climb back up!

United KingdomWe were in mid-June, so early in the season and understandably the restaurant was not open on Sunday / Monday like many in the area. We might have stayed elsewhere had we known, but glad we didn't as it is a great find. And close to our boat pickup at Jarnac the following morning.
Quaint old hotel high on the banks of La Charente river with amazing views across the valley below. Genuinely welcoming staff who went the extra mile to help make our one-night stay more than special. We arrived mid-afternoon and were able to enjoy drinks by the pool. The bedrooms have all recently been repainted by local artists with individual and quirky styles - but it works! There is no restaurant service out of season on Sundays/Mondays, so we had to rely on the hotel to book somewhere for us. Excellent choice made (a steak house on the river at Cognac), but it did mean we had to drive there. When we got back to the hotel, it was pretty shut, but the lovely [Dutch] manager agreed to open the bar so we could sample one from the huge selection of cognac's on offer. She provided an excellent choice based on our individual preferences. I just regret not taking a photo of the bottle for future reference! Breakfast the following morning was superb - on the terrace with the views - and a huge choice of fresh produce. Worth a detour to stay here.

IrelandThe hotel is not within easy walking distance of Cognac center which because the hotels restaurant was closed on the two nights we were there (early in week) meant that we had to drive into town to eat.
Loved the art. The hotel has very traditional rooms particularly the room with an amazing collection of different cognacs. Then there is the art and design in the bedrooms and corridors and even on the outside. See two photos. Much of the art is quirky with a sense of humor. Also there was good communication from the hotel and the staff facilitated a booking of a restaurant in town which we enjoyed.

United KingdomThe hotel restaurant, where we ate outdoors on their beautiful terrace, was catering for a large group on the day of our stay. They kindly agreed to accommodate us, but the service was, understandably, a little rushed.
This was our second visit to the hotel, after a gap of 3 or 4 years. In the interim, the hotel had been refurbished with the involvement of local artists, who have done an excellent job. The service was even better that we had enjoyed on our first visit. The hotel is well located for visiting Cognac and its extensive grounds are well worth exploring.

United KingdomWe loved everything.
What a fabulous place to stay. We will definitely come back! We stayed at Hotel L’Yeuse after arriving at La Rochelle airport, on our way south. The hotel is an easy drive from the airport and we arrived in time to have a fabulous dinner outside on the terrace overlooking the valley. The staff were all so welcoming and the catering team were able to prepare a delicious dinner for all of us, including my daughter who has severe food allergies. We had reserved two rooms. Both had very comfortable beds and we greatly appreciated the blackout curtains as it’s bright at this time of year. Thank you for making this a fabulous first night of our holiday. We will definitely return.

United KingdomIt is slightly out of Cognac so just bear that in mind. A 45 min walk. The pool apparently was freezing. These are slight moans on an otherwise outstanding stay.
The hotel is beautiful. The rooms are spacious and quirky, having local artists work in each. The reception staff were outstanding. The guy on the Saturday, getting a taxi for us, was really good. The gardens behind the hotel are lovely as is the river you can walk along, next to it. Breakfast was very good. The jams were gorgeous.
