“The location is beautiful with some lovely towns and villages nearby. My taxi driver drove me past some interesting sites including Benenden School which Princess Anne attended. He explained that all the local places like Smarden, Biddenden, etc with DEN at the end of their names is because the word means forest and much of the surrounding area was woodland rather than the modern farmland which exists today. Everybody who stayed commented on the peace and tranquility and that certainly was the highlight for me. I also particularly enjoyed the company of the hosts' very friendly black dog which would lie prostrate for me to tickle her stomach!”
