How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Had a meal in the evening and found it a little expensive I had fish and chips It looked amazing when I saw it come out ,but was disappointed with the fish far too soft and bits of grey fish , possibly a piece of frozen fish would expect more for £17 !! Chips were good though
Lovely staff and such a comfortable bed ,some lovely views and even a lovely park to walk around, great breakfast

The beef lasagne could have been a bit warmer. lipstick /makeup marks left on the white bedsheet. However very minor things. Overall excellent

Access with suitcases was probably our main dislike,but if upstairs,then that is what you put up with.

The only down side for me personally was the steep stairs up to the room. I have mobility issues and only just was able to manage them. Future visits may not be possible for me, but until my condition prevents me I would stay here again.
The room was beautiful and the ensuite facilities were modern and clean. The breakfast was delicious and served in a fabulous dining room with an open plan kitchen.

Shower cubicle was very small for a big person. Good in the restaurant was disappointing.

There was nothing I didn’t like. I will definitely return soon.
Lovely welcome and accompanied to room. The accommodation was great with a very comfortable bed a freestanding full length mirror and a large bathroom. The shower was brilliant with really nice toiletries and fluffy towels. There were a lot of options on the breakfast menu and I had the American pancakes (yum). Lots of free parking available. A nice atmosphere in the bar too.

Nothing really, but possibly a mirror over the desk area as a dressing table.
The room was clean & fresh, we arrived early to attend a wedding & the staff had our room ready, the breakfast was good, I am gluten free & they were able to accommodate me.

Was worth paying a bit extra for the upgraded room.
Attached to a lovely pub. Upgraded to a larger room with a kingsize bed and bath. Loved it. Very comfortable bed. Modern oak features and good facilities. Very clean. Very attentive staff. Loved the breakfast. We really enjoyed our stay.

Nothing, beautiful stay.
Met by very friendly staff, our room was upgraded on arrival, which was a nice gesture. Room spotless with adequate refreshments and breakfast the following day was superb, lovely stay. All staff very efficient, professional but at the same time friendly and welcoming. Would not be afraid to recommend to anyone.

bit in remote area but nice to chill and go for nice walks and enjoy drink after in beer garden
this is a re visit trip as we stayed here for wedding at Easter at bowers mill the venue and we liked it that much we decided to return and it was just as nice
