Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing not to like. Perhaps a restock of biscuits and hot choc a bit more frequently if I’m being picky!
The hotel was well situated for the sights and city centre. It was situated on a beautiful and quiet road and was very clean with excellent facilities. The staff were also very friendly.

United KingdomNot a really criticism, just think it would be handy to have tea/coffee facility in the room. Although I have stayed at many hotels and the lack of a kettle, tea/coffee and a few biscuits do seem to be the norm these days.
Everything is amazing!! Beautifully presented and decorated accommodation, very large room (room 7) with traditional Georgian high ceiling, overlooking the garden. Very modern and clean en-suite bathroom. Breakfast served at the hotel, I had to leave early, so didn't have time to try the breakfast. There is a small Smeg fridge/mini bar in the room. Hotel bar open until late. Very friendly staff.

United KingdomThere wasn't anything I didn't like.
Everything about the hotel was perfect The staff were amazing and made our stay wonderful. They really perfected our stay.our room was beautiful and the staff were accommodating. I came from the england and wanted some big 30 balloons in the room and they did this for me with no hesitation. The room was lovely and extremely clean. Highly recommended to anyone visiting. Very close to the main town centre Make sure to take warm clothes as its very cold. The hotel is an art style boutique It's worth visiting 24rt gallery which is about 20 min car journey. Alot of the art in the hotel is from this place, part of their brand and theme. Their breakfast is amazing aswell. Great quality food.

United StatesHave I mentioned the stairs? Lots of stairs.
24 Royal Terrace is a very beautiful Georgian townhouse that, despite being around 200 years old, was beautifully appointed. It is a hotel/art gallery with many, many pieces of amazing art on every wall. Our room was on the top floor overlooking a very lovely terraced garden area, which on nice days would have been lovely to sit in and enjoy. Breakfast was included with our rate and it was very nicely done. Our coffee was made fresh for us and we could order whatever we liked to eat. Be aware that because it is a listed property there is no elevator and walking the many, many steps from the lobby to our room was quite an adventure. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff was welcoming and friendly. There is a bar in the hotel and the bartender is very knowledgeable and friendly. There is also a very nice park directly across the street and it is only about a 10 minute walk to get a tram to go to the Royal Mile or to the airport.

United StatesRoom was a little stuffy but opening windows wasn’t wise because of rain and mosquitos coming in (lower level). Pull out sofa was not on good condition (bent and twisted). As a sofa, it was good but not so much as a bed.
Amazing staff! Quiet location.

United StatesI loved their small plates at night but would have been great if the restaurant also served dinner.
What a cool spot! The art everywhere is gorgeous, the bar has a great vibe, and Tony the Whisky guy is full of amazing knowledge and gives excellent tours. Highly recommend! We had the studio which was a basement apartment but so spacious and had its own exit door. Room was clean, comfortable, and even had scented pillow spray. Breakfast was delicious. Highly recommend!

United KingdomThe directions given on Google map take you the wrong way which was no fun in the pouring rain carrying a suitcase. I wonder if the hotel can do anything with Google to correct this as a real problem when trying to navigate anywhere from the hotel.
The decor was outstanding, all of the stunning artwork was a real delight and the attention to design and detail really stood out. A really impressive boutique hotel with a quirky interior to match.

CanadaWe were fine with the stairs but if you have mobility challenges make that clear and I suspect the attentive staff could arrange a lower floor room.
We had a great three night stay at 24 Royal Terrace at the end of Sept. The comfortable twin bed room (harder to find than one would expect), excellent breakfast with great choices and substantive servings, and perfectly quiet but accessible location were very good. We walked to newtown, to HolyRood Palace all easily from here and metro stop is close as well. There were over 70 steps from the lobby to our top floor room(!) but the staff graciously offered to carry our bags. In fact my suitcase got lost enroute from Canada (in Frankfurt) and it was only the persistent help of Justina and the front desk team who helped me retrieve it on our final day just as we were moving on. Thank you Justina! The staff are what make this place extra special.

NorwaySpent a nice long weekend in Edinburgh. Hotel is located quite central, interior design with attention to detail. Delicious and generous breakfast. Cosy bar with nice selection of cocktails. They also offer whiskey tasting for those who are interested, good selection of whiskeys presented with humour.
