How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

The host was incredibly kind and hospitable- enjoyed our conversations. Great location close to the airport. Everything was clean and tidy and was able to use kitchen equipment.

Richard is such a beautiful and friendly host, makes you feel at from the first moment. All is clean and the decoration of the house unique and cosy. Surely I will take the opportunity again to stay in Richard‘s home again, when I from Liverpool. 10 min walk to airport and the airport is a tresure to fly from.

Friendly, professional host (Richard) Knowledgeable re the area and life in general! 4 minutes walk to airport but no noise. Had a great night's rest before early flight. Have booked another night for similar early flight!! Very suitable for solo traveller who doesn't want to bother with buses/taxis to the airport

Fantastic location, 5 min walk from the airport, Richard the host was an absolute gent, communication was brilliant from the start and gave me perfect directions prior to my arrival, was greeted by him with a lovely cup of tea and had a lovely chat. The room was spotless and the bed was super comfy, complimentary water and snacks was a nice touch, was offered tea/coffee, breakfast in the morning. Couldn’t fault it one bit. Would love to stay again!

I cannot complain about anything, not even the famous bad British weather 😉 No rain and at least each day some hours a sunny sky (ok end of May).
I read all the positive comments about the host. And what should I say? They're totally right! 👍😊 I can confirm that he's very friendly. It's a pity that I was too tired for a longer conversation. For early departures it's perfect, only a 5min walk to the terminal.

Everything was great! Richard is a very nice host, makes you feel at home! Very easy to have an interesting conversation with him. The room was super clean, with all the amenities and super comfortable. Very close to the airport, 5/10 minutes walking. I'm definitely coming back! Thanks Richard! YNWA

I had an early morning flight which meant I would have had to leave home at 4.30 am At the age of 75 I avoid driving in the dark My room was 1 minute's drive from the Airport car park - could not be better! Richard was very welcoming and we chatted amicably for a number of hours

The location of the property is an excellent choice if you have a late flight to Liverpool and don't want to spend money on the cab to go to the city center. Richard is the kindest, most amazing host who will greet you with the biggest smile on his face, cup of tea and a genuinely interesting chat. Cannot find anything to complain about. Highly recommended :)
