Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNoisy floors and slightly hard beds
The location of this hotel is 2nd to none. Right on the banks of the loch. The rooms are a little dated and could do with modernisation but were clean and cosy enough. Although the very squeaky floorboards from the upprooms were annoying. For those with dogs it's a pet friendly hotel which is great.

United KingdomThe mattress was too firm to my liking. (But it's totally a personal preference.) Our rooms were directly above the bar, although I asked for a quieter room when booking. So we had to join the fun downstairs, instead of going to bed at the usual time. But the entertainment finished by 11pm, so it wasn't too bad.
The rooms were tidy, stuff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast (additional £10) was very generous and tasty.

United KingdomIt could just use a lick of paint for a freshen up, but that's cosmetic. I guess the target clientele for that time of year (January) would require it, but the heating did seem to be on '11' with no way of turning down in the rooms, so we resorted to opening windows which, when it's blowing a hoolie up the loch, makes for interesting curtain action!
The location of the hotel is absolutely spot on, with Loch views - even more stunning when there are wisps of mist. The small team of staff are friendly and diligent. Breakfast was brilliant and evening meal hit the spot after a long day sightseeing. There is evening entertainment on a friday and saturday night which is great if you want that kind of thing, though the music does travel to rooms quite a way away from the lounge (it's nothing overly annoying). The rooms are clean and tidy. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again.

United KingdomWalls are paper thin and i did not sleep much. The singer in the bar downstairs was on until 11pm. I was on the first floor and this was extremely loud as if i was in the room. The floors are creaky so you can hear everyone walking above. The locks on the doors are dated so needs to be fiddled about with to close. This seems the case all round so you can hear everyone trying to close their doors. I planned to get up early for hiking but it was so noisy i got a rubbish sleep. Possibly being on the first floor made it noiser.
Good location right next the water which was lovely. Dog friendly. Staff very nice and helpful. Goof buffet breakfast with plenty of choice. Single room was clean and good size with goof facilities and view of the water.

United KingdomRooms a bit shabby and dated. But perfectly habitable, especially regarding price. There was an issue with a seemingly blocked drain bubbling up right by the front entrance steps, that no one seemed to be dealing with

United KingdomThere was cobwebs on our ceiling and walls in the room and water pressure for shower was pathetic. The hotel is a bit dated but comfortable. Could have had some entertainment on or a bit of background music as there was nothing. And i didn't like the fact they didn't mention to our parents a happy 49th anniversary even though they had their honeymoon there at the hotel.
The location having the the loch view was beautiful. We travelled with our parents who had their honeymoon here 49yrs ago so we went for their anniversary which i messaged the hotel about and not one mention about it when we got there. The rooms were clean till you looked up to the ceiling cobwebs everywhere. The food was nice especially when the chef made a main course to our preference as on the fixed menu none of us liked the main course. Staff were all lovely and friendly. Allowing pets here too is a great idea. The place has a relaxing atmosphere but could have had some background music on as there was nothing. The prices at the bar are very reasonable. I would have given this place 10 out of 10 if it wasnt for the couple of things i have mentioned.
