    Nothing really.

Fabulous location in the centre of Crickhowell. We used the hotel as an overnight base as we were visiting the Hay Literature Festival which is 30 minute drive away. Lovely, friendly greeting from the lady at reception who advised that we had been upgraded to a courtyard room. The room was spacious, clean and well decorated- very pleased.Good size bathroom well stocked with towels and a few toiletries. We booked a table for an evening meal ( good job we booked, the restaurant was very busy). Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Breakfast was also very good. Would definitely stay here again. Crickhowell is a lovely place to visit and an ideal base for exploring Bannau Brycheiniog.

Could up the ante on the bathroom toiletries, adequate but not great quality. Bottle of water in the bedroom would be nice too…

Perfect location for Brecon and Hay. Ample car parking, charming lawned garden and superb food. Staff all wonderful! Stayed here at least 7 times and a different room each visit.. All are perfectly fine with good functional bathrooms, slight hint of faded glory but that’s all part of the charm.

Only minor flaws in the bedroom, e.g., very difficult to turn the tap off. The carpets on the stairs are very worn, but this fits with the feel of the place.

We had a warm welcome and very quickly decided that we would like to stay another night in our room. We had a very pleasant meal in the bar area in the evening. Breakfast was excellent.

carpet in the bathroom with a suspicious dark tint around the toilet...this made me feel a bit queasy.

lovely hotel and a great feel to it. Staff are incredible and really nice/kind. food is excellent. highly recommended for a stay in Crickhowel. Good parking too and handy for the black mountains.

It’s a traditional old building which I like, other people may not. They’ll miss out!

You can’t fault the quality of this family business- excellent food, immaculate kitchen, traditional, clean and comfortable rooms. I wasn’t sure to be honest and I was very pleasantly surprised how good The Bear is, in every respect.

Maybe a little pricey for the size of room and I thought the £20 surcharge for the dog was a little much although they did set up the rooms nicely for him with a little welcome pack, bowls, towel and mat. The checkin process was a little slow as they had so many people ringing up to book meals etc. The breakfast was nice but could have done with some vegan spread for the toast!

Great stay at the Bear. It is a lively pub with good food and friendly atmosphere. We had a nice little room slightly apart from the main pub which was dog friendly (£20 surcharge for the dog). They were able to make us a vegan breakfast when we requested it in advance of our stay.
