How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Trying to find parking was difficult but host was great and helpful finding parking
Close to all attractions and amenities, and host was very helpful, although room was on the small side it suited my needs 😀

Freezing Room Bathroom did not feel as clean as it prob should (this could have been a 1 off)
We have stayed at The Brecks on a couple of occasions. on this occasion a slight misunderstanding with the booking meant we were put in a quadruple room which was pleasent and the beds were so comfortable. However, my one observation was the room was freezing cold. As I checked in another guest was complaining about the cold, I personally like to sleep in a cold room but my friend used two duvets there was no heating in the room at all. I do like The Brecks, the management are pleasent and friendly and the location is amazing for North Shore

Rundown needs some tlc very small room no tv remote. Car parking is not good

The rooms are very small however, perfect if your looking for somewhere to wash, shower and change.
If you're looking for a place to just lay your head this place is perfect. Close to all local attractions and bars and the staff were welcoming and helpful.

the heating in the room was problematic. During the night at certain times the temperature went from being too hot to too cold. it was disturbed with windows needing to be opened and closed.
the staff were amazing. very welcoming, friendly and offered ongoing support throughout my stay. there was someone available at all times.

wasn’t to the best standard on leaving I lost my shoes I looked under the bed joggers shoes rubbish you wouldn’t believe and rubbish in the drawers I still enjoyed my time there though

Not superb but what you expect in Blackpool. Artex walls. Badly applied silicone sealer in the bathroom. It's just these old buildings and diy. But very very clean and comfortable. Toilet light was hillarious. Automatic. Turned off when you were in there and stayed on all night when you weren't. It's reyt enough

Perfectly located between the North Pier and the train station, made for easy journey home on the Sunday morning. Mike, the manager, couldn't have been more friendly. Really welcoming. Quality hotel and would be happy to stay there again.

Only 1 pillow per bed, could use more for comfort. Mattress had a small dip in the middle of it.
Covers were very comfy. Great location, very close to train station and several pubs.

No bar area but it didn't spoil our trip. Few changes that's really help as constructive criticism (not to bash anyone) I really don't like the hard black laminate (look like tiles) on bedroom floor, much prefer a carpet, feels a bit like sleeping in a kitchen. Light supplied in room only on ceiling and was extremeley dull so very difficult to see to put make up on, even in daytime. Maybe help to put another brighter bulb in and add a small lamp to table. No bathroom mirror to see shaving etc.
The owner is a diamond of a man and made us feel very welcome. His other guests were extremely pleasant too. Can't fault Customer Service. Nice and quiet at night, not disturbed due to bedroom at a side street not general pedestrian area. Not disturbed by any other guests coming or going either.
