We only had the one night there and Margaret was brilliant. The room was nice and a lovely view overlooking the river. The breakfast was cooked to perfection. We used the venue as a stop over travelling to Scotland so the whole experience got us off to a wonderful start

    Cannot fault Castle Vale.

The owner and her staff were so welcoming. Breakfast was really tasty and catered for a wide variety of tastes and needs. Particularly appreciated the homemade bread and jams - all excellent. The views from our rooms were outstanding and the rooms themselves were comfortable and spacious.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

We had a lovely time on our family trip, staying in rooms 1, 2 and 3. Perfect location, very close to the railway station - short walk up a gentle slope - and within walking distance downhill to the riverside and to the centre of Berwick. Everything Berwick has to offer is on your doorstep here, including great transport links by bus and train to all points north, south, east and west if you like to get out and about. We couldn't have been happier with our accommodation at Castle Vale. Margaret was so welcoming and Tracey who supports her was lovely too - we felt really at home here and loved the communal aspect of breakfast with all house guests around the dining table. All our rooms had amazing views of the Tweed and bridges (photo is from the window of Room 2) and were very comfortable and spacious. Fabulous garden and lots of little touches you just don't get at corporate establishments. Loved it and will be back.

Typical, friendly B&B in an excellent location just a short riverside walk into town

Mattress was a little soft, shortage of power-points in the room and internet a little slow. Would have liked a lounge area or perhaps a garden area to enjoy the views,

Loved the location with river views on two sides from our bedroom windows and a great view of the rail bridge, this is a typical, cosy B&B with all the usual facilities and an enthusiastic host. Room was large and comfortable and well furnished with a telescope and binoculars to enjoy the view. Despite proximity to railway line it was very quiet.

    Nothing not to like.

The Castle Vale guest house is nestled at the side of the river tweed under the old castle wall and has the remains of a tower by its car park. Although near the railway bridge and station the place is quiet , whilst sitting in the lovely garden watching the tidal river ebb and flow was most relaxing. The view from our room looked upstream of the Tweed and binoculars were in the room if you wanted a closer look at the wildlife. The room itself was cosy clean and comfortable and we slept well during our stay, our room was their secret room which contained interesting furniture, pictures and books. Whilst the shower and bathroom area were small they were more than adequate for our needs. The breakfast was amazing with homemade jams, bread, yogurt on offer and one of the best cooked breakfasts we have tasted on our travels. Sitting around a large table in the breakfast room gave a nice chance to have chat to fellow guests about their plans for the day. The house was full of eclectic items and lovely family pictures adorned the walls of the breakfast room. Having not been to Berwick before our hostess gave us a good insight into the town and showed us on the town map provided, the best streets to go along for our visit. This was a lovely place to stay and thanks to Margaret and her team

The main thing we did not like at all…we had to leave! (…in order to go home, that is). Nothing serious to report here.

Fabulous room with a double aspect. Had we not had a busy itinerary to fulfill, we would have happily sat in the window to admire the view (best one in Berwick, I’ve no doubt). The room was very comfortable and the facilities clean. Small, homely touches were appreciated (e.g. the tuck tray) and the breakfast was delicious.

The location was great and the owner was lovely. The property was also very pleasant with views over the river. The breakfast was also great with home cooked bread and homemade jam too. Possibly most suitable for slightly older guests which suited us just fine. Easy parking too.

The only issue we had was that breakfast appeared to be a full house at our allocated time, and sadly we needed to get a move on.

Everything about it was really excellent. The entire ambience of the place, made us feel relaxed from arrival. We Would like to have stayed a couple of days and chilled out there. Delightful hosts.

There was nothing to dislike - but plenty to love - about Castle Vale House!

Castle Vale House was a wonderful experience! The property is situated very near the town centre yet in a beautiful secluded spot overlooking the river - ideal for exploring Berwick or simply relaxing. Margaret (the proprietor) is such a warm, welcoming host who, aided by her wonderful assistant Tracey, provides a high standard of cleanliness - and an excellent breakfast! The decor, furnishings and family photographs added to the unique and fascinating ambiance of Castle Vale House.
