Lovely hotel, Ewan & Emma were very friendly and extremely helpful. We had a puncture when we arrived and Ewan very kindly helped my husband sort it out, in the pouring rain. The food was excellent too.

Really comfortable, beautifully furnished and excellent hosts. High quality bathroom, very comfy beds. Hosts Emma & Euan Ferguson were so welcoming & knowledgeable about the area. We would love to return.

Nothing! This is a very special place to stay and if we lived closer we would definitely visit on a regular basis.

One of our favourite places to stay. The hosts are amazing! Very welcoming and friendly and the food is just fantastic. The room is very comfortable and the ambience of the hotel is exceptional. I can't recommend this place highly enough. If I could give it an 11 out of 10 I would.

There was nothing we did not like.

This hotel is a little gem, the owners are very friendly and welcoming and made our stay a real pleasure. The dining experience, dinner and breakfast, was as good as the rest of it. We would recommend a stay here to any of our friends.

    Nothing. Beautiful place.

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel which should be an indication that we like it. It is a charming place, ideally situated for visiting Orkney or just travelling the NC500, both of which we have done. The hosts ate extremely helpful and obliging and the food is delicious.

The room was very well presented, clean, good size, comfortable, warm, good facilities and wifi. The evening main was lovely and the owner even made me my own pie accompanied with a fab whiskey flight ! The breakfast was spot on.

Nothing, it was great, Pity the Castle of Mey wasn't open in April as I'd particularly wanted to see that.

Stayed as part of our NC500 tour blessed with beautiful weather. Nice relaxed hotel just 8 minutes from the amazing Dunnet beach and a similar distance to the Gills Bay ferry to Orkney and convenient for John O'Groats. Good reception and friendly towards us and our dog. Only one eating room and we were allowed to take our dog to breakfast there. Had a memorable 'tasting menu' on the second night which was a bonus. Although the dog wasn't allowed in the restaurant for that particular event some other very kind guests looked after him for us in the lounge. Room comfortable. Decent shower. Would be the choice to stay again if in the area.

Euan and Emma were the perfect hosts and made our stay feel like a gathering with friends rather than at a hotel. The accommodation was comfortable, spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated. The home cooked food by Euan was delicious. Thank you both!

    Nothing to dislike.

Beautiful small hotel on the North Coast 500, perfectly located at the Gill's Bay ferry to Orkney. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, the food is fabulous and the owners, Emma & Euan are really great hosts and lovely people.

    Nothing, all good.

Breakfast was excellent. Choice and quality of the dinner menu also excellent. The owners were extremely friendly and full of information including gin recommendations (!) and helping us book a day trip to Orkney (well worth it but needs more than a day to do it justice).

Had a fantastic evening at The Mey Hotel, from the minute we arrived we felt very welcomed. Emma & Euan were fantastic hosts and enjoyed our time with them. Little details like a welcome drink and chocolate in our room were very much appreciated. Room was lovely and clean and the food was great.

The owners were warm and inviting. We had a lovely pop up dinner with a guest chef that was great! Breakfast was also delicious and well prepared. Our room was cozy and we were near the seastacks at John o’groats as well as the catamaran ferry to Orkney. Great location, cozy atmosphere and relaxed vibe!

    Nothing!

Located along the north coast, it’s a great spot for exploring. There’s a very personal touch with this hotel, and we were made to feel very welcome. The breakfast was cooked to perfection, as was the evening meal. We sat in the lounge in front of the fire in the afternoon and enjoyed the ambiance of a very tastefully decorated room. Thanks for such a lovely stay.
