Bar area could be so much better, feels like your in a hallway as thge door to reception is open and you are left hearing everyone check in whilst perching on poorly designed seating and inadequate tables. I asked the bar tender for a Negroni and he gave me a Corona. I said no sorry I asked for a Negroni and he tapped the Corona pump. I said no that's a Corona, then I asked do you not do Cocktails? and he said yes and pointed to a board which said Aperol spritz. He said only this one. The decor apart from the seating is very nice and we would have happily spent an hour here if the seating was more comfortable and if the reception was closed off from the bar etc. The hotel itself was incredibly warm but thankfully there was good aircon in the room. The only other crit would be the staff at breakfast were quite noisy chatting between themselves, (but the service was great and the breakfast good!)

Comfortable bed, nice styling, nice bedding etc. Building itself is lovely and the location is good. Parking was off site but made easy by by good drop off space and well prepared directions etc. Good breakfast even though I eat gluten free.

There is some traffic noise but hotel is located in town centre. Limited parking but there are spaces just around the corner.

Convenient location for St Albans cathedral and town centre. Pleasant walk to station for trains to central London..Rooms are well appointed and clean, helpful staff and a decent breakfast.

Bit of a steep hill towards the town centre. Nothing else to note.

Very comfortable room, excellent breakfast, good location for sightseeing- nearly opposite the cathedral gates, the general ambience in an interesting old building.

The room is a little bit of form over function. The room layout felt cramped and the mirrors were placed in odd positions. My wife found it very frustrating the lit mirror in the bathroom only worked when the main light was also on. The bathroom door also stuck and had to be forced open and closed. These are all pretty minor though, all in all we had a very pleasant stay.

The hotel was clean and the bed was very comfy. It is also in a good location for the centre of St Albans and parking was easy. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Some odd design things. No rails for towels in bathroom. Toilet roll kept coming off holder. And quite expensive for a single night.

There was a slight mould smell when entering the rooms. They were spotless and couldn’t really see any unfair signs of ware and tear. Everything was clean! But I just couldn’t shake this smell on arrival. We noticed it when we came back to our room later that night too. Once the windows were open it was perfectly fine. Would’ve been nice to have bottles of water as the tap water wasn’t very nice with a tea or coffee in our room. And if I’m really being demanding a mini fridge. All of this wouldn’t put me off returning at all

The location, the staff were friendly and very helpful. The design and building was really nice, felt very homely. I loved the adjoins rooms as my travel companion and I wanted our own bathrooms. Beds were out of this world comfy!

The parking was a bit of a pain but nothing terrible! The room could be a little cleaner- could do with a bit of a lick of paint. No fridge in the room or proper wardrobe.

A lovely hotel, good facilities, we loved the look of the rooms and the reception and bar. The staff were outstanding and were extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was one of the best I have stayed in terms of hospitality and helpful staff- they couldn’t do enough for us!
