Awful directions. A simple instruction: Leave M20 at junction 8 and follow signs to Lenham. After golf club/ pub take first right. That is how driver in castle finally got us to the place. Also there is NO sign which says Stable courtyard B&B ….

Excellent food. Overly expensive, if good wines. Youthful exuberance of the dining room staff!! Amazing access to grounds of castle in the evening.

    The English weather

Everything is very good and if not they are quick to ensure it is. Dinner was very good overlooking the Castle. We would recommend this to anyone especially couples as you have free access to the Castle and everything is seen to.

There was nothing not to like

Situation compared to the castle was great and the ability to use the facilities both on arrival and departure days meant there was no running around trying to see all Leeds Castle had to offer

The only real disappointment was the bathroom -Paget. The wash hand basin was far to small and shaving nigh impossible as there wasn't a plug in the basin!

The staff's attendance, the food from the restaurant, the beds were very comfortable and the gardens were fabulous.

The value and the experience of staying on the grounds was ethereal-I didn't want to leave.

I was a bit disappointed by the limited hot breakfast offerings, but that is just due to my taste preferences. The vaulted wooden ceiling in the space was fantastic, albeit a bit loud as we were seated by unruly children both times, but that is not the fault of the establishment. Drinks can be taken out on the large veranda overlooking the castle, but table service is indoors. We booked our train from London into Bearsted station, but were not prepared for such a tiny facility. There was no/poor phone service and we had not booked a taxi in advance (because we didn't know the station would be closed). We relied on the kindness of a stranger to share her taxi or we would not have been able to get over to the castle. If one books through Bearsted, they must organize the taxi in advance--there is free Wi-Fi on the train. We planned on taking the Segway tour, but it was all booked. If you want to do that, book in advance.

The grounds were beyond beautiful, the room was excellent. I have been home for several days and can't bring myself to take off my ID bracelet yet. :) Continental breakfast is well done, and there are hot offerings as well. There are several places to pick up a snack or light lunch up until 3:30 or 4. We enjoyed long walks, and had private access to the castle in between tour groups. All of the members of the castle staff were extremely personable and helpful and went out of their way to help in any way they could. If one is bringing children, there are tons of things for them to enjoy. (One hour or so from London Victoria--our train ride was less than 10 BPS so there is no reason not to visit.)

I booked castleview restaurant for an evening meal which I paid in full that evening, I was really unimpressed, which is a shame as everything else was excellent. We were greeted welcomingly and asked about drinks and sitting outside before eating etc. my hubby ordered a bottle of wine which he drank throughout the evening, I had a vodka and Diet Coke. We then came in an hour later to order dinner, luckily I also ordered a bottle of water that I drank throughout, because in 2 hours I wasn’t asked if a would like another drink at all. Our dinner arrived, and well all I can say was it was bland, am still really surprised as expected good things. I did inform waitress about food and told her maybe chef should taste his food. We attempted desserts, which wasn’t much better. Considering it’s a set menu with only 4 main and limited desserts you’d think they could get it right. Another lady came and apologised etc and we were offered a beer & Diet Coke (drinks we asked to order after 2 hours) on the house. Which we accepted but I stated I’d rather have a lovely tasty dinner etc

Loved the grounds, the castle, breakfast was excellent.

Restaurant for dinner was lovely, wonderful view of the castle. Three choices of main courses except my husbands choice of steak wasn't available. Should have been told at the beginning. Then when he asked for a second pint he was told they had run out. But they did give him a free bottle of beer

Setting was beautiful. Accommodation was excellent. Great value especially when ticket for Castle was included for each day.

We had a small double. They did mean it when they said small. I would get a larger room next time.

The grounds and views were beautiful and staying on property allowed for quiet, private enjoyment after hours. The bird sanctuary and show were a true value add as well as the maze and playground. We enjoyed the “extras” much more than expected!

DESPITE A COUPLE OF NIGGLES, FABULOUS FOR A RELAXED SHORT BREAK
    • Leisure trip

    • Small Double Room
    • Stayed 2 nights

I was on my own in a double room; it would have been crowded for two with limited storage space. It would have been better with a lounge for visitors to relax in. Unfortunately although breakfast (included) was OK, the restaurant was disappointing for dinner. Pricey for what was available (my friend paid extra for smoked salmon as a starter; it was no bigger than her finger), limited menu and not particularly comfortable. Such a pity because the restaurant looks over the castle and has a fabulous view. I would recommend the nearby pub for better value for money and more ambiance.

The location is outstanding. The bonus is having total access to the castle and grounds as part of the deal. The room was cosy and the staff very helpful and friendly.

Our room was on the upper floor and v warm, the fan did help a bit with this. The bathroom needed updating as the shower was not adequate and also there was no where to put bathroom toiletries, you had to balance them on the side of the bath + the hairdryer provided was very poor

Beautiful setting, helpful staff at reception and in the restaurant. Great food in the evening and lovely breakfast. The gardens are just stunning and beautifully kept
