The room was too hot so we had to have the window wide open. We made sure the radiator was turned off. We were next to a busy main road and slept poorly

Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Nice room and bed

Sadly, the thermostat fitted to the radiator near the window was not working. Hopefully, this will be picked up by the relevant maintenance team.

Firstly, I found parking my car easier than I imagined it would be. Secondly, the reception area has recently been redecorated with pictures of the lakes and many pleasing visual features. On the ground floor, next to reception is a comfortable lounge/bar area. Upstairs, my room was spacious and warm with a comfortable mattress topper. The breakfast dining area and selection were very good. The choice of fruits, yoghurt, cereal, and a great cooked breakfast, if you wish. Some GF options.

We felt the self service check in was a little cold, although the system worked well, we missed having a warm welcome from a human being, we didn’t know where to locate our room and had no information about what time or location breakfast was. This was our only negative everything else was grand.

Well located and our room was great.

Our bedroom was on the side of the hotel which was on a busy road

Very nice clean well run hotel. The hotel was in a good location with bus stops close by which was very handy for sightseeing around Carlisle. Places to eat were very close to hotel and a newsagents right opposite it for the daily paper. Nice lounges in the hotel which had its own bar. Breakfast was Excellent!

Nothing could hide the fact that it was an old building. While I was there it was being decorated. There was nothing wrong with the facilities, they were just a little old fashioned. (On a previous occasion I had stayed in a much smaller establishment in Carlisle, where the facilities were similar but they had made it interesting by having a Victorian theme). So I could see that they were trying to do something with the hotel, however it was not quite to my taste.

I would say it was an excellent location on Scotland Road, prior to my journey to Scotland. I was also interested to find that it was the site of a Roman Fort. Furthermore it was an easy and pleasant walk to the city centre. I was very pleased with the breakfast, which I had not realised that I had bought. The breakfast made it very good value for money. I was impressed by the hard working and friendly staff.

The rooms could be updated, I stayed here three years ago, in the break between lockdown, I feel that the lack of face t face contact is a bit sad. Although the staff were very friendly, there was no real contact. On my last day, nobody said "good morning", and when i was checking out online, the duty manager asked if I was "managing", that would have been an opportunity to ask if i had enjoyed my stay....I've been a hotel manager for thirty years, so I know about personal contact. I feel that this is not a three star hotel.

The breakfast was great, good selection, all piping hot, and the waitress is very friendly and efficient.
