The housekeeping was poor to the extent that on our last day, the room was not made up at all. Also it was very hard to get round the bath as there was lots of furniture in front of it.

The room was lovely. It was very comfortable.

Shower adjuster was faulty so couldn't get a hot shower. First World problem.

Room and breakfast were good. History dating from Hadrians Wall in carpark was a bonus.

The shower was difficult to control. The building is a rabbit warren of different terrace houses amalgamated with lots of ups and downs to reach the guest rooms. The signage is inadequate, particularly to find public areas downstairs when coming from a bedroom.

The cooked breakfast was good - self-service with specials cooked freshly to order. But the coffee was lukewarm and the tea that was weak. Both were self service from thermoses and not of the standard expected. There was no plain yoghurt, only flavoured.

Very helpful staff; made great suggestions as to where to eat and how to get to special places to visit, especially Vindolanda, which we would have missed otherwise, and was terrific. Parking was safe and available. Beds were very comfortable, room was clean, water was hot for shower, and breakfast was good.

The bevereadge area could be better arranged as it was in a very cramped position.

Booking in was easy and the person on the reception desk was very welcoming . The twin room was on the first floor and the single room was on the ground floor - both were nicely furnished and very clean . The beds was extremely comfortable and the linen was good quality . The T.V. in the twin bedroom didn't appear to be working at first, but the chap on reception came up immediately and sorted it out for us . The lounge area was pleasant and comfortable and all the staff we came accross were very welcoming and helpful.

It would have been nice if there was a food option during the evening. There are takeaways and eating establishments nearby, so I did not starve.

The highlight of this hotel was without a doubt the very tasty breakfast, would divert and stay again just for that. I had a single room for a stop over on a work trip to Glasgow and the room was fine, it was front facing on a sometimes noisy road, but that does not bother me. Staff were all polite and helpful. Check I. Smooth and efficient. Plenty of parking.

Many items on breakfast menu not available, fried breakfast options good; continental breakfast a non-starter. No cash payments accepted at the bar and bottled beers only available.

Excellent position. Short walk to city centre and easy access from M6. We'll positioned for visit to Hadrians Wall , 27 miles. Close to main Park and Riverside walks. Good car parking on site.

The only thing were the stairs (but knew that when booking) to the top floor felt like a bit of a maze to find room.

Old hotel but being renovated. Room was clean, beds comfortable. Friendly staff made you feel welcomed to stay there. Breakfast was great and breakfast staff were happy and singing made a nice start for the day.

The floors were a little interesting. We had to walk up and down to get to our room. Maintenance needs to be better in areas. The floor in our bathroom seems tender from water leaking on the floor.

Great area and the price was perfect. The room was actually big for a UK hotel. The hotel staff we met were very helpful and nice. I liked the history that is associated with the hotel and the area. Breakfast included was awesome. Great value. We would definitely stay here again. Eat at the Indian place down the street it was awesome.
