It was a good stay but I wouldn't recommend the food.

Breakfast was later than advertised and not recommended.

Location and room were good and the decorations in public areas were interesting.

The lift was efficient but very small, it said 6 people but 2 large would struggle especially with luggage.

It’s a very old hotel but it’s clean and welcoming. The room was large with a spectacular view over the river. Tea and coffee provided with plenty refills. A table with 2 chairs at the window so you could sit and enjoy the view Take time to explore the hundreds of stuff displayed, some very old, some junk but mostly interesting Beautiful stain glass windows on the staircase . Free WiFi which was very good Walk out the door and you are central to the town and river.

Shower was absolute useless, bed base was broken, so noisy when laying down or turning on it.

Cooked breakfast added extra but was delicious and well worth the £11

We had booked breakfast at 8 am but the staff didn’t come in till nearly 8.30 am. The restaurant is owned by different people to the hotel. However our dinner and breakfast was very good.

We had nice high beds which were very comfortable. A nice sized room and bathroom and nice view.

Lack of fresh coffee and pot of tea at breakfast. Lack of surfaces/rails/hooks in bathroom, and no bathroom lock. Bedside lights were too bright.

Cooked breakfast at in-house cafe was good and filling, lots of veggie options. Family room was very spacious. Old hotel, a little tired but with character. Secondary glazing worked well to reduce traffic noise.

    N/A in my case

Was good for a one night stay on solo motorcycle trip. Basic single room was very clean and all I needed. I ate out with the hotel so cant comment on that service. The building itself is a classic old Scots hotel.

    - Room very dated and tatty - could do with heavy renovation or even just a lick of paint. Furniture old and uninspired. Uncomfy bed. - No staff on duty until 4pm check in - Slight Difficultly finding the hotels car park - its obvious now but we missed it when we first drove in. Could do with a sign!

    - Staff friendly on check in - Great location in Calendar - Lovely hot shower - Clean, despite very dated decor - Free parking - Beautiful old building

This is a lovely old large rambling pub but it has lost its old world charm with modern clutter.

I came with no expectations other than, at the price, you should not come with great expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Very 'old school' Scottish hotel and so wonderfully characterful. Very clean and exceptionally helpful staff. If you are expecting 'Holiday Inn' or the like, go elsewhere. If you want good old fashioned homeliness then this is for you.
