Beautiful old building in the heart of Cambridge. Greta selection of different rooms. Dog friendly, with optional small terrace. Amazing showers and baths. Good breakfast.

The room was quite small and very dark even with the lights on. The shower head way to low only hit my head on it twice. One of the switch covers fell off i left it on the bed side locker.

Hotel is in a nice building, but one can see that there was very little renovation done in the last years. While I accept that's possibly part of the Pandemic hangover, for the room rates charged it's a bit dissapoitning.

Despite a huge bathroom with a massive bath and double walk-in shower, the washbasin was barely big enough to rinse your hands. Too much emphasis on posh coffee and fussy teas - put more ordinary tea and some instant coffee on the hospitality tray and leave some fresh milk in the fridge so we don't have to send down for it.

The restaurant was shoddy. Service was slow and inattentive. Have had way better experiences at other HdV. It is half the reason for going!

Dinner was a bit rushed. Some items at breakfast not available. I prefer being served a pot of tea, rather than making it myself while the staff watch. Tea and coffee making facilities in room did not provide enough water. Kettle could not be filled from tap.

The furnishing of the generously sized room is a little ungainly; the wardrobe is awkward to use, and the glass shower screen has a crack running through it. Minor issues with the preparation of the room but the staff were helpful in solving these.

Wonderful building and great location; generously sized room with comfortable bed. The restaurant offers a terrific menu at very reasonable prices.

Tried to charge us for kids meals though they were advertised as free. Also the pictures in the hallways were a little odd.

Noisy air conditioning fan in room. Discrepancy between online menus and bar menu was disappointing.

Service was excellent, minor issues were dealt with very well. Nice touch with complementary bottle of prosecco.

The staff were generally helpful and friendly. However, on one occasion I went into reception to ask something. The woman working on reception had her back to the door and me and was talking loudly to another member of staff (a workman). She was complaining about something and was swearing (f****ing). This was not a private area (it was reception!) and I stood there until she finished and turned around and saw me. Very unprofessional.

Breakfast - Bistro is really nice re decor and atmosphere, but on the day we had breakfast the breakfast bar area seemed under stocked, only 4 yoghurt compote, no cups and saucers for the coffee machine (had to ask, as did other diners), sadly cooked breakfast Luke warm - poached eggs/hollandaise/ham muffin, tables around us were left uncleared for the duration of our breakfast - staff pleasant enough, just didn't seem to be 'on it' as much as you'd expect in a place like this. It felt like we had arrived just at the end of breakfast serving, but we were an hour before that. Room - Junior Suite - Robert Mondavi - in the attic area. Was dark and a gloomy, with little natural light with only two tiny windows looking on to the roof and satellite dish! Will ask about this next time.

Location - GREAT and easy walk into the centre and near good restaurants and cafe Decor/layout - the public areas are great, made use of the building really well. Bar interesting in the basement with snug areas for a bit of privacy - comfortable seating and good decor. Staff - were all great...friendly and helpful throughout the stay. Room - Junior Suite - comfortable, large bed, lovely large (open to the room) shower/bath area, all of the luxury items you'd expect.

Lovely boutique hotel not far from the city centre. The bed was really comfortable and the staff were friendly. We enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant and a drink in the downstairs bar/cellar. It was our anniversary and the hotel kindly left us a bottle of Prosecco.

Need some hooks in bathroom to hang your hand towels etc

Location was great for our purposes, breakfast was very good, bed was super comfortable and roomy, bathroom was clean and well equipt.
