Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomReally enjoyed the four poster bed the coverings of which went well with wall paper and the fine high ceiling. I was really impressed by the comfort of the two chairs. I have a chronic back problem so I really notice the quality of furniture. To sit comfortably and watch the comings & goings outside on what was a beautiful spring day was a joy.

United KingdomBit of a delay in waiting for hot water to come through on taps and shower. Adjustable shower head would have allowed me to get in the shower whilst adjusting the temperature. Limited parking. Best to find a spot and leave your car, or someone else may take it. Parking in street is not cheap. Better option is to park in one of the car parks which are about £4 for 24 hours.
Staff very accommodating. I booked an extra night prior to some friends coming down. It was an easy option to upgrade my room so I stayed in the same room throughout my stay. It looked as though my room had recently been refurbished. Only a short walk to Plymouth Hoe. Dinners and breakfast all good, and quickly served. Most attractions in Plymouth can be reached on foot.

United KingdomWe didn't have time to stay longer & enjoy the hidden treasures of the hotel - for you to find :)
The room was more than adequate for our use - we did have a problem with the ensuite loo, but when able to report to the reception, by the end of the day we had a new loo. All the staff we saw & dealt with were very attentive & personable, a credit to the hotel.

United KingdomPillows were a bit hard and a massive gap between the mattress and the headboard which we fixed. Shower button didn't work easily and lift not great so had to use the stairs for the 3rd floor. Very pricey breakfast £15 per person though it was tasty its very pricey

United KingdomSadly, a faulty fire alarm, caused an evacuation of all hotel guests around 3am. Thankfully it was too cold or raining outside.
Loved the character of the building and spacious room with separate tv room attached.

United KingdomThe room was a little too small for us and my Hearing assistance dog. It was als hot although the weather was not that hot being March. There is no air on in the room we stayed in.
Old world charm. Staff were super. The grandeur of the hotel, the quaint and quirkiness of the main door and lift. Felt we were stepping back in time but there were modern facilities too. The breakfast was great.

United KingdomThe only reason I have marked the hotel down is simply because you can see it needs a little more TLC. I can't even begin to wonder how much it costs to keep such an old building afloat but it just needs some finishing touches like pictures/mirrors and plants/flowers to add some warmth, atmosphere and heart to the place. We would recommend and would definitely stay again as these precious places need to be used. The price was so reasonable!
The building is beautiful and it must be used and enjoyed. Location was great with just a 7-8min walk to the Barbican trendy area of the city. The room was so big with beautiful old sash windows allowing in plenty of light. It was great to have a bath too. The staff were exceptional! Everyone from the reception to the breakfast team were friendly helpful and just genuinely lovely!

United KingdomI didn't like the view, especially after looking at their website and how they sell their rooms, obviously showing the best ones, as most have just a street view and at the back of the hotel. I would have liked the ability to have 4 cups of tea, as only 2 tea bags each were provided. We had one when we arrived after our long journey, and would have liked another later on before going out to dinner, but we saved that one for our morning cup of tea. The windows could have done with a clean on the outside, but it wasn't a huge deal. We didn't have breakfast as we thought it expensive at £13 each, but the dining room looked good. The car park was small and on a first served basis, and if you went out for the day, there was no guarantee you would have a place on your return. Plus you were charged £7 per night, which was a lot cheaper than the street parking.
I loved the size of the room, 4-poster bed, separate adjoining room with chairs and a coffee table and a 2nd TV. Temperature was just right too. Lovely bathroom. The room was nice and quiet, no street noise, and little from the adjoining rooms either. Plenty of power points for charging phones etc. Just a squeaky landing floor. I loved the grand staircase which was very wide and elegant. Such a lovely old fashioned feel to the building, it even had a lift, which was small but worked fine as there are 5 floors. I liked they had a car park.
