Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomWe booked through booking.com where it was not clear that we wouldn't be able to to use the pool or spa at our leisure therefore due to other commitments this meant we were unable to use at all so we have had a lovely stay but didn't even see the spa.
We found the room the be cozy and near the main house. The bar and buildings were beautiful. The grounds were stunning it was so peaceful and calming. We were able to choose a table at breakfast next to the window which was really lovely. Staff all very helpful and friendly.

United KingdomRoom was great, but bed was soft and dipping and there was a mould smell in the shower. Kettle was limescaled and the carpet was ripped up a bit. Spa could have been cleaner. We went at the end of the day and it felt like robes and towels weren’t replenished towards the end of the day, the floor at the pool hadn’t been cleaned all day and the tea and coffee had run out. Breakfast portions were very small. There was an extra charge for proper coffee over filter coffee which felt very unnecessary given the price of the stay.
Overall a very nice room, bathroom was lovely, but some traits that made it feel overpriced. Spa was lovely and great to have access as part of our stay. Breakfast was in a lovely space in the hall and good quality.

United KingdomSpa access has now been limited to 7-10am in the morning after your stay, which I found shocking that we paid to stay the night but then could only use the facilities for 3 hours in the early morning, less considering breakfast also falls in that window.
In the room we Loved the comfy bed, the bath and bathroom products. Our trip was for our anniversary and the staff made it extra special with a nice chocolate and fruit display. Beautiful grounds and lots of nice places to sit and relax.

United KingdomThe cot in the room didn't have the right parts so the baby couldn't sleep in it and had a very bad night of sleep as a result. At breakfast the cutlery on our table and some of the serving plates were not clean. The food is average.
The setting and the grounds were great.

United KingdomThe cottage room we initially got wasn’t the best for £157 so we paid £50 to upgrade to the main hotel. There was a wedding party st the hotel and many of them arrived late and woke us up at 00:30 with loud laughter and talking. I had politely ask them to use inside voices.
The staff were nice and helpful, the spa was really nice, hot sauna, hot steam room & hot jacuzzi.

United KingdomUnfortunately over the past few years it’s much more corporate and less customer focused, only wanted to please the DAY guests which was sad as residents we are now only allowed to the spa either early in the morning or evenings, and unfortunately the breakfast service wasn’t good at all just one member of staff literally running around apologising to most tables, forgetting orders menus food?? Just DISAPPOINTED as this was somewhere we came for a special night away
We have stayed at this hotel for over 17years, it’s a huge part of our lives We had seen a friendly face (James) who was the porter and now reception manager which was lovely

United KingdomThe room we had needs some basic refurbishment: cracks in the plastering, the bath - despite being clean - has a sediment that probably won't go anywhere unless replaced, some bits and bops being "classy" or in ruins, depending on your taste.
The manor is quite stylilsh, in a secluded place and far away from the buzz. The gardens look nice and they have all things you might need at spot: bar, restaurant, and spa.

United KingdomThe Spa is disappointing. It is tired and run down. The pools were cold including the therapy pool that I would expect to have some heat. The hot tub was broken. Areas of the spa were dirty and not well maintained. The restaurant food was delicious although expensive. There were very few choices when we dined as lots of the food had run out or finished. Some of the female waiting staff were abrupt and unfriendly. We were also served by a friendly, helpful and most polite man (Uno?). He redeemed the other service we received. The bar was a great place to enjoy a pre dinner drink. The cocktails are lovely and service, in there, was excellent.
The House and Mews are stunning. Our room in the Mews was comfortable, clean and beautifully decorated. A wonderful place to stay with lovely grounds and a great view.

United KingdomThe check in was chaotic, and two of our group's rooms had been given away. None of the beds were made into singles before we arrived. No one picks up the phone when you call reception. Our stay was unfortunately a little disappointing given the price tag and the look of the venue. They did offer a partial refund which we appreciated however when we went to check out this hadn't been applied.
The staff were very accommodating (our waiter Chris especially) and the venue itself is stunning.

United KingdomThe spa is very tied and small. This was a worse spa experience than other Champneys I visited. Some areas around the pool can really benefit from descaling. Since the spa is so small, they should time guests attendance.
Their traditional building has a lot of character. The gardens are extensive and well maintained.
