Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOur TWIN room had been made up as a double so we had to get staff in to rearrange beds and change the bedding.
Lovely spacious room. Comfy beds. Bath with a shower above. Had a little dressing room with big wardrobe and tea/coffee making facilities. Two comfy armchairs in room. Free use of swimming pool. There was an electric car charger in car park which we used. Less than 5 mins walk from the ferry to Isle of Wight.

United KingdomAn operational log fire in the bar area would have rounded off a perfect meal and nightcap (the replacement heater didn't cut muster) and the Solent Bar as a venue for breakfast and afternoon tea doesn't hold a candle to the Waterford Restaurant, which would be more deserving of hosting the latter at least.
Main building is a gorgeous period building with wood-panelled interiors. Our suite was spacious, warm and well-furnished with lots of lovely extras. Impeccable service from staff, with barman John, waitress Sophia, maitre d' Mo and receptionists Kim and Lucy in particular deserving of attention.

United KingdomWe didn’t realise that none of the hotel rooms were in the main Tudor style building so this was disappointing when we arrived as this was a big selling point for us. Our room although clean and tidy, was very dated and situated a fair distance (on a very cold night) from the main restaurant.
The grounds of this hotel are absolutely beautiful and the main building is lovely. Use of the pool was a major highlight.

United KingdomAs above.
Beautiful main building and really liked the offsite lodges however they are in need of decoration. As explained to reception when I checked out, very happy to return to the hotel but didn’t expect mould and paint peeling off in the suite bathroom especially as a MacDonalds 4 star hotel.

United KingdomBreakfast somewhat mediocre. Cold on first day when buffet. Lacking in substance when served next day. Minuscule bacon portion .Assistant manager seemingly put out by me asking for a red bull at dinner making it clear that it hadn’t been available for a long time despite being on the drinks menu
Comfortable rooms. Polite cleaning and maintenance staff. Decent leisure facilities

Breakfast was OK, the room was comfortable but in need of refurbishing, and we didn,t have dinner only a snack in the bar which was really pricey.

United KingdomThe “spa” is a bit tired. No loungers if you were thinking of spending any time by the pool. The steam room was not working while we were there.
The rooms are in blocks around square. Nice size and clean. The staff were very nice and helpful.

United KingdomThe bathroom needs a bit of a renovation. The water in the bathtub came rusty colour, so my husband couldn't have a bath. The menu at the hotel restaurant was a bit limited and overpriced so we had to go to Lymington in the evening to find a place to eat. Also, I did ask in my email about your spa treatments and mentioned that it's my husband's birthday. You directed me to your website for the spa treatments. I know where to find them, I was hoping you offer us a spa treatment deal for his birthday. So, you missed on us spending more money in your restaurant and spa as overal.
The swimming pool, the hotel location and grounds were amazing. The staff members were very polite and helpful. The breakfast was nice.

United KingdomStaff attentiveness at breakfast was poor. Restrictive swimming times for children. Dinner options are a joke, unless your prepared to pay £60+ per head you need to eat off site. There used to be both the high end restaurant and a casual dining restaurant (which was more reasonable) at this hotel however they now shut the budget friendly restaurant and just serve breakfast in here. Dining options really poor for families but a positive being lots of lovely places locally to eat.
Accommodation comfortable and nice touch with coffee machine. Breakfast was ok but only if you timed it well and went to buffet as you notice fresh goods coming from kitchen.
