Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomDinner was quite limited in choice and the serving staff, one in particular, was not exactly customer friendly. My wife's meal nearly slid on to the floor, such was the force with which it was dumped on the able.
Room was excellent, as was breakfast. Location was fantastic.

United KingdomOverpriced Al la cart menu, we both had the asparagus for starters, definitely not worth £15 for asparagus on toast. Partner had salmon from same menu, very overpriced priced (£35) and did not go with the smoked salmon at all. I had beef from the other menu which was £15 and a very good value meal. Sadly we had no hot water for a bath but they did refund us half our stay which was great. Would have liked bathrobes in the room and black out curtains. Woke up at 5am with sunlight.
Beautiful location, very peaceful and lovely walks. Friendly staff. Loved bath in the room, beds were really comfortable and beautiful view out the window! Staff were really friendly and bar tender very attentive, shame there was no cocktails Good value for money and would return.

United KingdomIf I am being picky, my room was significantly smaller than the images provided on Booking.com - I did specifically opt for a room with more space so this was a little disappointing. The room was also very cold, I was a bit shocked that it hadn't been warmed ahead of check-in - it remained cold for the whole stay. I didn't mention either of these things to the staff, but I get the impression they would have been very helpful if I had.
A really beautiful venue, the grounds were so well maintained and absolutely stunning. I loved the decor of the house (would really have liked to have had a booklet in the room to tell me about the history!) And enjoyed relaxing in the Library Bar. All of the staff were really wonderful, and made me feel incredibly welcome and comfortable during my solo stay. My room was comfortable and the shower was absolutely lovely. The food was great and I liked the variety available at breakfast. They were able to cater to my requirements and prepare me a dish not on the standard menu, bonus points! I'd definitely look to visit again.

United KingdomOverall the hotel was fab! My only gripe was that we stayed 4 nights and the very modern, newly furbished bathroom was pretty grimey. Furnishings looked like they had never had a thorough clean and floor had previous occupants hairs on!
Fabulous Hotel and Location. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Food was pricey but very good. Breakfast was delicious. Stayed in the stylish Stable Block.

United KingdomWe booked 2 rooms, 1 in the stables (excellent) and a deluxe room in the main hall but were given a small, low grade room 200 yards away in the "Grange". On complaining, we were told this was due to a system mapping issue between booking.com and the property. The staff were helpful and apologetic but could not accommodate my mum who is 85 and blind in the hotel itself which was extremely disappointing. Some of the breakfast ingredients also seemed a bit cheap (bacon, sausage etc) compared to the first class evening meal.
Hotel is in a wonderful location, peaceful and beautiful. Evening meal was excellent. Large, airy room and bathroom in the stables.

United KingdomThere was a garden light directly above window which shone through top of curtains, but it was switched off probably by midnight. Pillows not to our liking but minor point really.

United KingdomHad booked specific room (where I had stayed previously). Was informed on arrival that this was not available. Offered another room where facilities, furnishings and size were not comparable to room booked. Staff then offered another room which was a closer match to original.
Peaceful location. Beautiful interior. Furnishings and decor in public rooms of high quality.

United KingdomOne slight blip was that there was no hot water left when we came to get ready for bed, so we couldn’t have our bath or shower until the following morning - so if you want evening ablutions when the hotel is busy, don’t leave it too late to check for hot water.
The room we stayed in was big, airy, calm and well maintained. The staff were all incredibly helpful. The food - both dinner and breakfast - was delicious.
