A peaceful and pleasant stay at this country hotel

We ate in the bar area adjacent to the bar; it's a bit soulless to be honest (and was before on previous visits. I think putting in some contemporary lighting to create some mood would make a big difference) Our bathroom had a shower with nice toiletries supplied (shampoo and body wash) but the body wash was empty in the shower. I pointed this out when asked and it was refilled when we returned to the room so very happy with that. I didn't like that the ballroom has a divider separating the restaurant area from the second bar and I think there may have been a desk behind there - it looks untidy. The grassy area outside directly below our room could do with a bit of care and tidying up I would have liked some fresh flowers in the table at breakfast (a nice touch I have seen at other hotels I have stayed at of similar price) Some tissues in the room would be welcome The food is quite expensive Might be an idea to leave a feedback form in the room so that guests can leave feedback anonymously rather than being asked what would make it a 10 when you are about to depart. I provide this as hopefully constructive criticism as overall we had a pleasant stay.

I have been coming to this area every year for over 20 years now. I have stayed at the Eype Mouth Hotel before but several years ago ( it is often booked out in the Summer). It's location is incredibly peaceful and it's a short walk to the pebbly Eype beach with its beautiful scenery. I was really pleased with the standard of the room we stayed in. It was a good size and had a sea view. It was well equipped. Wifi worked well. Bed was comfortable and we slept well. We had dinner in the Admiral's Bar. The bar area has been refurbed and the decor is nice There was an open fire by the bar. We ate in the bar area adjacent to the bar; it's a bit soulless to be honest (and was before on previous visits. I think putting in some contemporary lighting to create some mood would make a big difference) maybe also make the tables round to enhance the use of the space We had dinner here and it was very nice - loved the cheesecake - yummy. Breakfast was also very good. I like that you were able to help yourself to toast rather than wait for someone to service it. The breakfast room is lovely and light and has nice windows. They were also playing some soft jazz music which I liked. I had a full English breakfast and greatly enjoyed. I loved the floor tiles in our bathroom and the in the hallway leading to our room.

It's not really a superior room in my opinion. Water flow from shower was woeful. Cooked breakfast items were overly pre seasoned. Approach very narrow had another scrape our rear wheel arch and drive off. (Obviously not the fault of the hotel)

Location lovely, little treats and message was a nice touch. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Our room was described as having an 'inland' view. We actually overlooked bins and the woodstore. This wasn't an issue as it is winter, we arrived after dark and were only staying one night as a base to attend a party. Were it to have been a longer stay, or in the summer, I would have been very disappointed and would have asked if we could change rooms. The room looked clean, but would have benefited from some high dusting to remove a cobweb hanging from the ceiling. I have them in my house so felt quite at home!

Lovely, friendly staff. Easy checking in and plenty of parking space. Great choices for breakfast.

You can hear some noise from other rooms but I slept really well and it certainly didn't keep us awake. Maybe some extra staff at breakfast would make it easier for the team to take orders and be on the front desk for checkout but both breakfast and checkout went smoothly.

The staff were fantastic: attentive and clearly took great pride in providing the best service possible. The dining area was beautiful with seaside features and the breakfast area had a nice view. The room we had had a lovely sea view and was recently refurbished. It was very comfortable with plush pillows. The lighting was very lovely and the hot drinks tray was well-stocked, with plenty of milk which is sometimes lacking in hotels! The breakfast was delicious, as was dinner. Short walk to a lovely pebbly beach and dramatic coastline.

Barhroom maintenance could have been better as a minor observation but I found no other fault in this charming hotel.

The location is just a few hundred metres from the coast path and Eype's Mouth beach, the amazing view, 4 poster bed, absolutely charming staff who were all a credit to the management and the restaurant.

Our room was very small. Luckily, at the last moment, we didn't bring our dog. Not sure where she would have slept if we had!

Bed a bit small and bouncy mattress. Road to the property and beyond to the beach needs a bit of care - very narrow with passing places that aren't wide enough to pass two normal sized cars. We got used to it though by making mental note of driveways and passing places wide enough to pass in. Don't let this put you off - the trip is worth the effort.

All staff were welcoming, friendly, efficient and relaxed - they made the holiday what it was - a relaxing time away. Food was top class in presentation and quality. Plenty of safe parking. Easy walk to the beach and then on to other coastal destinations depending on your stamina. We would recommend. Thanks to all the young ladies - you're doing a great job.

Piped 'musak' unnecessary, too loud, base reverberated into our bedroom. Daily room 'freshening' could have been a bit more thorough, eg. clean cups for tea, bit of a hoover round.

Breakfast great, dinner food okay but could have done with more choice. Room will benefit from the re-vamp, currently in progress.

I think the hotel is under new management, so this isn't a dislike really, the downstairs restaurant and bar area have recently been upgraded. The bedrooms although spotless need a upgrade, decoration, also the upstairs corridor
