Fabulous venue, lovely setting and a great place to stay.

Wrong room allocated on check in, double instead of twin , went back down and was told told that we were allocated a double as I only booked for one person, which was strange as I booked a twin room for my friend and I.We were then allocated a twin room but told I would have to pay £20 extra for breakfast. Checked my booking on booking.com and indeed I had correctly booked for 2 persons twin room and paid correct price. On way out informed the receptionist (male) , who said Ok but asked if I could send email showing my booking, I showed him on my phone that it confirmed 2 people. No apology received, surely he could have checked booking.com. His customer service was bad, shame about his attitude as other aspects were good.

Room and hotel was great, breakfast including service good.

Shower could have been slightly hotter and more powerful and toiletries very basic.

Friendly welcome, food in restaurant was superb and had a great night's sleep! Bed was comfortable and room very quiet and light-proofed.

Excellent location in attractive gardens. The Victorian gothic building has been very well extended and is tastefully furnished and decorated. The service was first class, friendly and efficient. Dinner and breakfast were well cooked and presented - large portions, perhaps a little too large for us. We always feel guilty if we don’t leave a clean plate. The bedroom was large, the bathroom had a bath, always welcome, and the bed was large and comfortable. We slept well.

Nit picking and I know we could have asked for more but we stayed a night and there was not enough toiletries in the family room for all four of us (all to shower in the evening on arrival and the next morning before we left).

A little bit different from a normal hotel with a good old feel to it and the location was great and ideal for us.

Pillows were really flat and unsupportive, bed was very squeaky .the door on bathroom could do with a paint and the shower door seal at the bottom could be replaced as looked dirty.there was tea and coffee, but no real touches to make it more welcoming. I didnt think it was good value for money

Only one bottle of water and one pack of biscuits in a twin room with two people sharing. Would have liked one each

A few little home comforts in the room, tissues , etc. would have been welcome. TV too small and old. Some fresh air/freshener needed for lingering cooking smells on the stairs.

Very comfortable bed, very good breakfast and dinner. Friendly helpful staff. Everywhere very well maintained and cared for, even if slightly dated. Easy parking. We didn't have time to explore the area as we were there for quick stay for family reasons, but would happily visit again to explore.

Dirt in lift not cleaned up. Bed a bit creaky.

Liked the friendly relaxed atmosphere. Places to sit and relax. Lovely staff. Convenient to walk into Usk and along the river. Excellent breakfast. Lovely big room with comfy settee. Lovely gardens.

Unfortunately my sink in en-suite had a crack across it, it’s a little tired looking in places. Due to size of room a bigger TV would be better.

The rooms need a bit of updating there was a bit of an old smell as we entered the room. the breakfast was the complete opposite of the evening meal poor organisation, was seated straight away and then left for about 25 min until we asked someone if we could order. the coffee and toast arrived then waited probably another 20 min for breakfast which to be honest wasn’t great which is a shame

The location was great the gardens and grounds were well looked after the evening meal was very well organised and food was amazing

Room a bit dark and very little fresh air (one small window that barely opened).

Very friendly welcome. Quiet location. Nice lawns etc to sit out in. Nice breakfast with fresh fruit salad. Happy to have our bicycles safe inside. Large room, good shower. Fan in the room used as it was very warm!

The bath was raised from the ground and therefore there was an extra 10 cm of height to negotiate which was tricky (I have a knee that sometimes has a bit of a mind of its own!).

As an inclusive breakfast it was very good; I would have been a bit disappointed (not being a 'full English' fan) at being charged £16.95 though.

Breakfast was great, quality of food excellent . My wife and I are great foodies and the evening meal we could not fault absolutly delicious 😋 Loved the location easy walk to the town which looked beautiful with all the summer flowers out.
