Having to leave!

The rooms are spacious, luxurious, and very, very comfortable. The tariff was reasonable and affordable. (Worth every penny!) The check-in procedure was quick and easy. The staff were warm, friendly, and engaging. Pre check in instructions were clear and comprehensive. Reception was quick to respond to questions, and any issue was solved immediately. The hotel smelled nice upon entering. I really loved the L'Occitane toiletries and appreciated all of the thoughtful touches like fluffy white robes, coffee machine and coffee pods, and complimentary mini- bar items. Secure parking was another bonus, as was the location. We would love to come back.

That I can't stay more often!

Friendly staff, ever so quiet and comfortable, always accomodating, private gated car park and in an amazing location. The food is also insanely good. This is a regular stay for me and I'll see you again in August.

There was an odd smell when we entered the room, it smelt of drains. We opened the windows and once the bathroom was used it seemed to disappear. When we re-entered the room much later in the evening there was still a faint smell through to the morning. I'm not sure if the odour was due to the room not being used for a while or if it was due to the fact there had been a lot of rain.

We had a fab suite, which had a spacious lounge area with tea/coffee, fridge with beers and water which were complimentary. The bed was wonderful, very big and extremely comfortable with lovely linen and pillows. The marble bathroom was to a very high standard with a large bath, two sinks and a large walk in shower. There were also L'Occatine shower gel/shampoo/conditioner and body lotion. We dined in the dining room with friends, there was a nice selection of dishes available which suited all tastes. The food and service was great, we also had cocktails in the bar area which were fabulous. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, the full English option was well presented and delicious. The hotel is located just a short stroll to Colchester Castle and Park and is on top of all the shops, restaurants and bars. There is also a secure car park with is located behind the hotel. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel and will certainly return for dinner/drinks and to stay.

The room is very cozy and provides great varieties of drinks in mini-bar. Everything is clean and nice. We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast in the hotel, which are simply amazing! The teas and scones are especially with high qualities. We’re looking forward to visiting Greyfriars in the new future!

As much as the bathroom in my suite was beautiful, the steps down into it were slippery and quite annoying. I had to hang onto the rails and go step by step slowly.

Located centrally and close to where I needed to be. The hotel is a mix of old and new, done sympathetically to showcase the old. Loved it

The room was very warm even though there was a fan. The decor was also a bit tired despite cost and 4star rating. The a la carte menu for vegetarian was asparagus for starters and main course and never asked if any allergies. Also u was told a dish was vegetarian but then the staff said they will check. On their return I was informed that infact it was not vegetarian. Some allergy awareness training is needed.

I had a problem getting the television to work properly but a member of staff came up straight away & sorted it out for me.

I always love staying here & this time I was delighted to find a plate with ‘Welcome back’ written in chocolate & a delicious truffle waiting for me in my room. What a lovely touch that meant a lot to me.
