How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

The springs in the bed were squeaky when rolling over
It was close to the wharf and restaurants also close to the hop on hop off bus also a short walk to the shopping centre and more restaurants Breakfast was good

Lack of hair dryer the one in room was broken and we never received a replacement, the room was booked for 3 but only had 2 glasses and cups, the extra one we had were taken out the following morning.

There was so much dust in the room, you could see it on all surfaces and it triggered my sons asthma, carpets not vacuumed

No toilet brushes . And cleaner said she didn’t speak English when I was asking for help with blocked toilet. She also didn’t listen when I said I didn’t need room cleaned and still came in when I was only wearing a towel after just showering

Room not cleaned on first day
Pleasant, helpful reception staff Catering supplies easily available at reception Excellent choice of breakfast Quite a good location, walkable to Albert Dock, town and cathedral. Near two excellent restaurants, Amalia and the London Tiffin Room

The toilet door didnt really give you that much privacy
We had a lovely room overlooking the dock. Breakfast was included which was great to have before leaving for home. Very convenient location and felt safe in the area. Car park underground was also a plus and prebooked before.

2 things: 1. No toilet brush as "they don't provide it", which is a little bummer. 2. I asked for the double linen on our sofa bed, as I've got 2 kids with special needs and it's tricky for them to share. Unfortunately they didn't answer my message about it and didn't provide it :(

The public areas in particular the toilets located on the mezzanine level were an absolute disgrace. Over flowing bins, dirty, didn't look like they had seen a cleaner for quite a while
Room was clean & comfortable. Breakfast was lovely although can get quite busy at times so seating is a tad scarce. Location for the docks & town centre was perfect.

Waffle machine out of order. One lift out of order from late evening to early morning Air con 407 noisy. I know I could have cancelled and rebooked for a cheaper price which is irritating especially as our 5 rooms were not together.
Breakfast good not too crowded. Excellent choices available Communal areas spacious. Gym looked good although didn't have time to use it. Again thank you to Jess for looking after us in the bar and Ella in the breakfast room. All staff showed their Scouse friendliness which was appreciated.

Shower wasn't as powerful as would have liked. Breakfast was limited. No fruit salad or fried eggs.

Limited choice for breakfast eg soy yogurt, dairy free milk, fruit. I understand it was a busy time! The breakfast area could have been managed better, it was chaotic, people stood eating as they didn’t get a table before their food! I understand it was Easter holidays, the staff had to deal with people not knowing what to do eg the waffle machine! Putting croissants in the toaster! The staff were excellent at this busy time! Car park charges a little high!
The breakfast was good ! But limited choices in comparison to your Sheffield hotel that we stayed at the previous week. Location was good. The staff were excellent. Nice cosy room good value for money.
