How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Breakfast was nice but thought it a bit unusual that they only served scrambled eggs, no poached or fried. Also no porridge or muesli. Noticed coffee machines were turned off on the dot at 10 each day few people were told they had to go to reception & pay for one. Seemed very strict considering they were still eating their breakfast am sure an extra 5 or 10 mins being kept on wouldn’t of mattered much to the staff.
Great location could easily walk to lots of main attractions. Lovely clean hotel. Reception staff very friendly & helpful especially Tom. We were disappointed with the view from our room & he sorted a new room out straight away was no trouble & excellent customer service.

Everything. Friendly staff who couldn’t be more helpful! Check in was easy and quick, our room was clean, modern and comfortable and the location was great and central for our needs. Breakfast was also fantastic.

-Woke up on our first morning to no running hot water. Went down to reception to inform staff (had tried calling several times however no answer), we were told someone would be up to sort it to no avail. Had to have cold showers which was extremely unpleasant

This is not applicable. I really liked my stay
The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The staff were super friendly. I really liked the complimentary breakfast. There was good variety. I liked the fact that there were toiletries provided in the toilets .

Beans and eggs were a bit watery on the breakfast. Would have been nice to have had water in the room. (I.e. fridge)
Very quick and efficient check in. Spacious room, lovely Smeg fridge! Huge TV, really comfy beds. Breakfast was nice.

I booked a room for myself and 2 kids which I thought was 2 doubles or 2 queens whatever.. But it was a double and a sheet of rock (with a little bit of padding from the bedding). The thing that was supplied as an additional bed seemed very sturdy, so didn't look like a sofa bed. However, it was like sleeping on slate, so I put both kids in the double and I had the slate. It deffo had a seam down the middle but whatever it was, there wasn't a mattress, that's for sure. I had a shower before bed and thought the pressure was pretty low, but I figured it was just the time of day. In the morning my daughter was washing her hair (she's 10) and she asked why there wasn't any water coming out. Needless to say, it was amazing to take a shower when we got home from York. When going to sleep, my daughter asked what all the noise was. I didn't think it was that bad, but you could definitely hear people above and below. In the morning she again commented on the strange noises. I woke up at 4am very hot, but much to my dismay, the air-con had been left at 21 overnight. Would be good if the default setting would lower this overnight.
The TV in the room was great. We watched 90 mins of Mr Beast on YouTube via the connecting facility which was cool. We all went down for breakfast, and the waffle machine was a big hit. My son (7) loved the beans and sausages and infinite refills of orange juice. The coffee machine was bean to cup so very nice also. The staff were great, particularly Steven who was always on hand at reception/bar to help out. We even left our luggage there.

Hard to suggest anything really.
Great location, just a stroll into city centre. The room was exceptionally comfortable and clean. Buffet breakfast superb. Staff very pleasant and helpful. They also have a luggage room so on check out day we left our bags because our train home wasn't until 4pm.
