Very minor points; the pool was on the chilly side for me, but the sauna was so hot I could barely stand by the door when I opened it to go in. I hate artificial flowers so I’d opt for a fresh display at Reception.

I suppose it’s like buying a house; location, location, location. Marry that with a superbly designed hotel with glorious scenery, excellent food and hospitable staff, and you have a winner. We had a sea view room, that was so comfortable that the rain didn’t bother us. The walks from the hotel were sublime, as indeed were the ferry ride and visit to Overbecks National Trust property.

Room 107 is sold with partial sea view , whilst the room is beautiful and a great size, the view is only visible if you are over 5foot5 or standing up on the tiny balcony . If you do sit on the tiny balcony it feels like you are sitting in a shed as completely surrounded by by wooden panels

Close to the beach , beautiful location , good parking , lovely spa

I didn’t like that they said breakfast included and then it’s only continental. I looked back at my email and it does say continental however when you see breakfast included you tend to think cooked. I think they should make that clearer.

Very modern and a luxury appeal.

The pool was on the cold side, and the spa pool (jacuzzi) had too many chemicals (to the point it irritated our eyes) and was very foamy.

The room was very comfortable, the bed in particular was lovley. The view was incredible. The food we had in the restaurant for dinner was excellent.

Dinner was on the pricy side.

This is a lovely hotel. Although the drive to get there was down a narrow and windy country lanes, the hotel's location directly on a beautiful sandy beach made it well worth it! The hotel was super clean and exceptionally well-organised. The staff were very friendly and always willing to assist. Our bedroom was delightful (loved the complementary gin and tonic) and the hotel even acknowledged my wife's 60th birthday which was really sweet. The bed was also super comfy. They had an electric shuttle that took us to Salcombe and the beach ferry was fantastic! The spa was great with a nice pool, jacuzzi, and sauna. The massage was also really good value. All in all, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The breakfast orders were wrong 50% of the time.. I.e. we ordered scrambled eggs and got poached, etc. We had booked with breakfast included and got told on several mornings that we had to pay an extra £10 for a cooked breakfast. This was rectified after enquiries but it happened repeatedly on several mornings. We stayed 6 nights. The hot water was off on two mornings so had to have a cold shower. The lights in the room were a little tricky to operate and bedside lights could not be operated separately, which was an issue when one of us wanted to read before going to sleep. The property is a bit outside Salcombe, so you need to use the Shuttle bus provided by the Hotel or walk (ca 30-40 minutes one way). But this stops at 8pm, so late night dinners in town were not possible (we stayed in April, so I assume in the height of summer that is not an issue). Walking back in the dark is not recommended as there is no safe footpath and no street lights. You have to walk on the road which is not safe due to cars in the dark.

the location is lovely, right on the beach at South Sands-storm Kathleen was a bit too close for comfort at times and the car park and walking paths were flooded so we had to take our shoes off to get back into the hotel, but I suppose this is not a common event. Lovely staff and welcome G&T in the room. Very clean. Lovely Spa area, although prices are a bit steep.

Breakfast was confusing as we didn’t know we would have to pay for cooked breakfast - and staff were also confused - 1 saying cooked breakfast was included in the rate but when we queried this it wasn’t. There were plenty of other available options for continental breakfast but we didn’t expect to have additional fees and it wasn’t explained at check in.

Great location (although roads in area are very narrow). Great views, great facilities with sea view rooms and a pool, convenient parking and a. Great shuttle bus to Salcombe

Breakfast very good As was our Dinner we use the Harbour Hotel in Southampton so the menu was the same. For me the comfort of our Bed was the best thing about the whole stay. We were in room 17 We did receive an upgrade which was obviously an unexpected bonus.

The criticisms were small - the pillows were uncomfortable but the bed itself was great. Room service did not replenish the stocks of essentials everyday -so we were missing tissues and cotton pads on 2 of the three days.

The food and facilities were all we could have asked. The children in our party were very easily entertained between the pool and the beach. The staff were by and large helpful with a special mention for Lee the shuttle bus driver who was very helpful and informative.

Check in was very easy and efficient however we did find the staff at reception to be particularly unhelpful when trying to arrange taxis etc. We asked if they could book us a taxi to take us to dinner in a neighboring town (as our mobile services were not getting much reception and couldn’t make calls), and they handed us a sheet of paper with taxi contact numbers in the area, saying they couldn’t do this for us. Not sure why but it seemed very odd..

Lovely modern beach hotel. Rooms were large, well appointed and bed was extremely comfortable. The Spa facilities staff and our spa treatment were excellent, as was the gym and indoor pool. Hotel was in a great location and we thoroughly enjoyed walking to the town of Salcombe which was about a really lovely (hilly) 30 minute walk from the hotel. Breakfast was included in our rate and was a great choice of a la carte options or continental buffet. The restaurant staff were very good..

Some of the food portions border on being a bit of the mean side. The jacuzzi pool water looked a little bit tired and could be changed more often.

Fabulous location. Clean modern hotel with large super king bed and complimentary gin on arrival was a lovely welcome. Food was very good and service from Jade exceptional. You felt welcomed and valued! Food was a good standard and the spa was a nice bonus in the hotel.
