Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaI guess the doors in the corridor can be fixed with some WD-40 so they are not that noisy. Bathrooms probably need to be cleaned more often, considering the number of people who are using them, plus I'd like to ask those who are staying to be more careful how they use the facilities and clean after yourself. :) It's quite noisy from the street but you can pay 3-4 times more at the hotel on the same street and it will be the same.

United KingdomFelt very sterile and next to my bed had crumbs of food so clearly hadn't been vaccumed which was a bit gross as I had put my bag on the floor while dark without realising. When I checked in, I was asked to cancel my booking through booking.com with the offer if I did to stay in a 3-person room rather than 4 complimentary (which was pointless anyway as there was only 1 other in my room). I refused only as there was no reason given - I'm assuming it might be something to do with how it works with them, and works better for them if I book directly, if that had been explained to me I would oblige. But for my own safety and for the fact I am earning genius points I refused to do so, it also as a solo traveller felt a little bit dodgy to me to ask that.
Location was ideal, and I knew I was only one night so I knew not to expect too much, so it delivered in that respect. Served my purpose which was literally a bed. I was also pleasantly surprised to be sharing with only one other girl in our4 bedroom dorm. Nothing super amazing about it and would not have spent any more money than I did.

United KingdomThe doors are incredibly loud. I was kept up literally every 30 minutes due to the creaking and slamming of doors on the way to the toilets. This is a hostel people use for partying as it has 24hour access, meaning people are coming in and out of the hostel at all hours. The also have a T&C’s that you need to pay a £20 deposit which isn’t stated on the booking.com page- please be mindful of this as I do think they do it to catch you out as it’s a £2 charge if you pay by card. There is also NO KITCHEN FACILITIES. I thought this was very poor compared to other hostels which have these.
It was a decent hostel, clean bed and room, spacious with hooks etc for putting clothes. Good location for the city centre

AustraliaThere is no common area to chill out in. This means that to relax a bit in the afternoon you’d have to spend money to go to a cafe or pub. They don’t let you hang clothes in the heaters in the bathroom to dry them (understandably for visual reasons and to keep communal bathrooms clean, but there should be an area where people can hang their clothes that they hand wash).
Location was the best thing about it. It was relatively clean.

United KingdomBeds were a lot closer together than I expected, which made sleep a little difficult. I woke up to somebody in the next bed kicking me in his sleep 😄 Could have done with some lockable storage in the rooms, maybe between the beds to separate them. Lack of a common room, but not a major issue.
Location perfect - right in the centre of Bristol & only about 15 minute walk from the station. Staff - friendly & pleasant, one guy in particular was very helpful with the bag storage. Cleanliness - overall clean throughout, couldn’t fault the loos & sinks.

United StatesThe place looks like a giant maze of rooms looking to fill as much space as possible. There is no common area and the place felt very dry and sterile. Not a very friendly or beautiful place to, it felt almost like a prison.

United KingdomIt was extremely basic considering how much they were charging for it. The pillow was wafer thin, and the general cleaning should have been spotless especially in the toilets. We stayed in a 10 bed dorm, paying £30 is outrageous. You don’t even get somewhere safe to put your bags.

AustraliaTo be honest, I’m very low maintenance and don’t expect much (being a former infantry soldier); so I’m usually happy with a room with a clean bed and a lockable door to keep my property safe. The rooms were dorm style but reminded me of prison cells (not that I’ve ever been incarcerated).
The location was brilliant, right next to the river and restaurants/cafes, etc. I was able to leave my bags in a storage room for a small fee.
