Great hotel – very friendly, lively, and comfortable.

The entrance for pedestrians is a very nice shortcut, but it lacks some allure. No big deal, though.

A very friendly, lively, comfortable hotel. Large enough to have all the facilities and comfort you'd expect, without becoming too massive, noisy, or run down. The rooms are well-kept, the beds are splendid. There's a bus stop right in front of the hotel, and there are plenty of buses going directly from and to the centre and the airport in 10 minutes, every 5 or 10 minutes. (Get a "Rida" card, so you can hop-on/off most bus and tram lines, including the AirLink to the airport.) And one hilarious note: I counted over 40 warning signs in the pool area. :-D

The hotel itself was fine, however it is starting to show it's age and could do with a tidy up and a refurb

Location. Right on a main bus route, 10 mins to the city centre.

We felt that the rooms were a bit overpriced but this is a general problem in Edinburgh.

It's sad that Holiday Inns don't have a proper pub but a place to buy drinks in an open area.

This is a standard Holiday Inn. The rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and the breakfast is typical of Holiday Inn. It has the added advantage of a swimming pool (which we did not use). There is also easy access to buses in to Edinburgh. Parking was also free although a not easy to find. A short walk up the road and there are a couple of pubs and other eating places.

The amenities inside the room are lacking: no mini-fridge, no toilet brush, no shower hose (the bath tube had only the usual tap). The food from the restaurant was expensive (50£ for two people, one burger and one chicken schnitzel which was stale and old, it seemed refried) ☹️.

I cannot find something that I liked, maybe the wifi connection and the comfortability of the bed. Apart these two, nothing.

The room was too small for 4 people. Needed to be bigger for luggage and have somewhere to sit. One chair isn't enough. The breakfast was not worth the money, no Granola and basic fruit, cheese, and meats. Needed to be refilled but took over 15 minutes to be done when asked.

The staff were very nice and the hotel was only 10 minutes away from the centre of Edinburgh town by bus. Pool and sauna were a bonus.

Breakfast was okay, it had the basics. I didn't like the fact that I was told to be charged a higher price for breakfast because I failed to order it in advance. Firstly, I frankly thought that breakfast was included, and that was clearly not the case. Booking.com should made it more apparent when breakfast is or isn't included. Otherwise, you are less than honest brokers. When told to pay a higher price for breakfast for failing to book it in advance, I stomped out of the hotel and got a much nicer breakfast in Costorphine, ten minutes walk from the Hotel. So keep that in mind!!! The hallway was depressingly dark and seemed to need refurbishment of carpets. It is a general problem in the hotel. The water in the tub took a while to heat, probably due to ineffective heating system all over the hotel. The ventilation system in the room woke me op several times. it hums like a propeller airplane quite often and it is unpredictable for how long. It is nerve shattering trying to sleep under such conditions. That said, I actually slept through the noise most nights. The tv was good, big screen and operable.

I liked the Bangaladeshi staff, especially Shahin and Munira. Very nice people. The tv was good, big screen and operable. I liked the double scotch I got in the bar, it was Glenmorangie. No ice!

I ordered a large glass of wine and was served by a trainee/newby. Later at dinner I again ordered a large glass of wine - which was substantially larger than the earlier one (despite paying the same price) !!

Polite and helpful staff - they made me feel that they really cared. A surprisingly quiet hotel.
