How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Comfortable beds. Reasonable breakfast. Plenty of towels.
Rust on shower curtain pole. Some small maintenance issues. Door out to car park difficult to open and lock.

Excellent location on the front. Easy parking for a decent length of time right outside. Walkable into the centre of Ayr.

Toilet was running continuously and had to ask to be fixed. Bathroom heated rail had to be fixed. We arrived early and weren’t allowed early checkin.then nothing worked properly. Very unfriendly management
Position was fantastic. Restaurant was very nice with great meal deals.

Room was in the roof - limited space kept banging head, lots of stairs as no lift that side of building

The cooked breakfast wasn’t great, undercooked pale sausages. Bacon was covered in a white thick film of grease and was inedible. The breakfast was dry, black pudding was over cooked and terribly dry. Need something with moisture as half a small tomato isn’t satisfactory. The potato scone tasted stale and was not edible. The fried egg was great but you can’t get an egg wrong really. Decided to not have the cooked breakfast the second morning. Hot water tap in the bathroom ran cold a huge disappointment. Rooms were otherwise clean welcoming and fresh. Beds were well made clean and comfortable. The staff are courteous and professional including the friendly cleaning staff. Nice location by the beach and can easily walk into the town. Would stay again but not have the breakfast.

Need hairdryers that don't require constant pushing in of switch to keep working. Very painful for hands with arthritis. Lots of condensation on window because single glazed.
Clean, comfortable room. Lovely staff. Great location. Nice food.

Lunch menu, it says 2 courses for £13.95, my wife wanted to order a starter and a dessert as she can't manage a main meal but we were told we had to order a main course with the 2 courses and therefore had to pay full price for each course which was only £2 extra, seemed a bit petty.

The set evening menu was a bit inflexible. Good value if you were drinking an alcoholic cocktail but not so if you weren't. Also you had to have a starter and a main but some of us would have preferred a main and desert but this was extra.
Good value for money. Good location just opposite the beach. Dog friendly. Staff helpful.

A few cobwebs in the bathroom and the lager in the bar was stale whichever one I tried Heating was a bit erratic , the radiator in bedroom was red hot at 4:00am making the room too hot to sleep under the quilt
Always a warm welcome from the friendly staff , the food was excellent

We were very pleased with the cleanliness and comfort of our room however we found it rather dark not having an outside view other than a wall
We enjoyed a superb evening meal (1st night) and also enjoyed our breakfasts.

The price of your soft drinks is scandalous!! £3 for a can of coke is a total rip off!! Put a damper on what had been a very pleasant evening!

The Food, Location, and the Waiting Staff were Excellent!
The Food was excellent. Also the Staff were Great apart from the Night Porter didn't believe us when the Iron was plugged in it blew the Electricity twice !! We also had to ask for the Heating to be put on.

Room was quite small for a family room but it suited our needs fine.
Location is fantastic. The staff were helpful, friendly and approachable. Rooms clean and view out to the sea was lovely.
