We were only able to book the restaurant before 6.30pm as it fully booked but this wasn't a problem because we were hungry. We ordered steaks and potatoes and 3 different vegetable side dishes but none were available when the waitress put our order through. How is this possible in a hotel of this size on a Monday.

Very welcome greating from reception staff who booked evening meal and breakfast. I left my phone charger in the room and the reception staff posted it to me straight away. Breakfast was excellent. Loads of choices.

Beautiful surroundings, very well presented, comfortable and maintained hotel. Staff were very friendly. A small issue with breakfast reservations, made for a slightly awkward moment at breakfast. Was resolved quite quickly though.

Signage, for some reason wasn't very good. Couldn't find things easily. Rooms were a little dated with no smart TV facilities. Breakfast restaurant staff seemed a little stressed.

Bed was comfortable. Spa facilities were perfectly acceptable. Reception staff were friendly. Breakfast was nice.

We had two rooms booked for one night (three friends catching-up). We asked for rooms to be connected at the time of booking. When arriving at the hotel, we were told our rooms are not connected and that we have to pay extra £80 for the rooms to be connected as we had different type of rooms booked. Not good customer service at all as we asked for connected rooms a month before arrival and nobody got back to us saying this is not possible. Also, there was no information when we were booking that those type of rooms were not possible to be connected so how would we know?! I also called the hotel two days before making sure our rooms are connected and was told that they have this on file and it will be fine. Why nobody told us then too that this is not possible? So our friends’ catch-up was spoiled really as one person had to stay in the room on her own and something we wanted to avoid. The hotel said that we booked via booking.com when asking for the rooms to be connected, but this was a poor excuse really. The hotel needs to make sure they communicate well with booking suppliers. There was no remorse from the hotel too on the day at the point of arrival and they simply didn’t care. Also we used spa facilities which are fine but the hotel is not good for adult spa breaks really as there were kids in the pool shouting and screaming (not ideal spa break for adults). We understand that the hotel needs to accommodate all guests, so maybe they should do special hours for kids entry to the pool so adults who would like to recharge would avoid those hours. We have children ourselves and wanted to have some quiet time to recharge - unfortunately this wasn’t possible. So I would recommend finding a different hotel/spa if you are looking for a quiet time.

my room was in a cute courtyard, but I had to leave the hotel to get to it, which meant wearing a jacket to use any of the facilities (only a very small gripe however)

Dinner was just in to be honest. The bread on the sharing platter and with the dip was not very nice,, the codsroe dip had a bitter after taste, the calamari was rubbery and the rice pudding topping was ok but the rice itself was pretty tasteless and like wallpaper paste.

Breakfast was excellent. Tasted great and loads of choice. Our room was comfy, tastefully decorated and the spa facilities were great. Really liked the Happy Birthday touch too. My sister loved it!

Breakfast!!! Buffet was very varied. But food was cold Nothing worse than cold scrabbled egg all the hot food was just luke warm, and cold plates too, Why do hotels do this, it may be easier, but it spoiled our stay, one of the treats of being away is a full English!!!!!?

I was a little confused as to why there wasn’t any hand wash soap near the sink, had to use the soap provided for the bath and shower. The shower screen needed a new rubber seal to stop from opening up whilst using the shower. (Not really a dislike, but info that would save a wet floor)

The location was great, lovely surroundings. The staff were nice and friendly. A little perplexed about about the speed limit sign though, never seen one with a 8 3/4 speed limit before 😉

Receptionist on arrival a bit cold. Dessert menu in Harry's offputting in terms of too many flavours going on in most choices. Rice dish with coconut, pistachios and coulis looked unappetising.

Hotel, original house, grounds and Harry's bar and restaurant, as well as all staff there, especially Silvie. Main courses lovely.

The beautiful old hotel we were expecting seems to be just a facade for photographs and weddings. We entered the hotel through a modern reception area at the back of the building and never got to spend any time in the beautiful old part of the building. We were thoroughly disappointed not to be able to find an area to sit with a cup of tea or glass of wine which had a view. The surrounding countryside was so beautiful, but we had to sit in a dingy, windowless modern area of the hotel to have a cup of tea when we arrived. Breakfast was spent looking at the car park.

The food in the restaurant was delicious. Breakfast was well organised, hot and also delicious. The surrounding area was beautiful. Our room was clean and had everything we needed for a couple of nights away, even though it was very small.

The first room we had wasn't cleaned properly, we found hair in the bed, and also was very noisy. The second room we got moved to also had spots of cleaning missing. We found filter wrappers on the floor and again was noisy. We had 3 separate people who were extremely drunk knock our door and tried to enter during the night which was frustrating. We also got disturbed in the morning by health and safety because someone was smoking weed in one of the rooms. This put a massive dampner on what was meant to be a very chilled and relaxing weekend for me and my partner.

We liked the grounds and found it was quite picturesque. The spa area was also quite nice.

Breakfast was fine, enough choice. Food in Harry's Bar really tasty, well cooked and original. Check in excellent, everything explained. Restaurant service excellent. Slip mat in bathroom. Bottle of water in the room.

Facilities were very busy and some things like sauna and steam rooms were packed with people sat outside waiting to go in. It maybe the choice of timing that we attended but it meant we couldn’t access all of the facilities

Our room wasn't ready at 3:00 when we were told on line that we could check in. Our room still was not ready at 4:00, so after having to enquire at reception, we were suddenly given another room thankfully so we could start using the spa facilities as we were only there for one night. We enquired to have a nail treatment the next day but apparently there were no nail technicians in the building to offer the service!
