The room was run down. The bathroom seemed to be in a state of disrepair / remodel. That did not fit with the feel of the room. Bath tap was broken as were lights beside the bath. Bath lighting had a switch, but didn’t do anything. Did ask staff how to switch lights on and was told that they are there for “effect”. Pretty sure they were just broken.

Very good atmosphere, staff were very attentive.

The big cushions in the room were pretty dirty looking.. I just hid them. Room service took 45 minutes.

Super comfy bed. Really quiet. Delicious chocolates. Was fun ordering a cocktail from bed. Really luxurious feeling. Excellent location.

While our room was lovely, it was simply too hot to be able to sleep. We had the air con as low as it would go but we did not get a good sleep as it was just too stuffy.

The hotel was lovely and staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful.

We booked a Cabin room - it was small, but perfectly adequate for a short stay.

Unique vibe in an excellent location for a short stay in Edinburgh. Great value for money. Staff were very helpful.

The fine details put into making it a special stay and remind of the brand "house of gods". I.e. the branded prosecco and chocolates and cards and the room service etc. Staff were very friendly

I found the room to be a little dark

The theming was on point. It’s beautiful. I didn’t get the chance to use it but the milk and cookies option was an amazing touch, very unique!

How dark the whole hotel was. Makes it feel a bit grubby. Totally get that the darkness of the rooms is part of the theme and it is nice but there needs to be an option to put more lighting on when needed. Didn't like that there was no real window.

Staff were amazing and the breakfast basket/milk and cookies is a lovely touch. Really quick service and reasonable bar.

I knew the room was going to be smaller but I didn't like sleeping against the wall. Plus the mattress wasn't the best, kept feeling like I rolled into the middle. I'd opt for the bigger room next time.

Atmosphere in the room is like no other hotel I have stayed in. Perfect couples escape. The bar area is lovely for a few cocktails too. Location is perfect for exploring central Edinburgh.

The bathroom smelled musty and definitely wasn’t plus size friendly. You could see the damp and mould between the door and the glass panel on the bathroom door; absolutely awful – I didn’t shower because of the whole wet room setup. Definitely bring your flipflops to avoid getting your feet wet if you have to use the bathroom post-shower. Noisy vents kept me up half the night; I eventually had to smother the one next to the bed with a throw pillow. The lack of windows wore a bit thin after one night; wouldn’t stay for more than a single night due to this. Also, there’s no kettle in the room, just a coffee machine that you have to run several times to get rid of coffee residue if you just want water for your tea. Not only that but it’s difficult to fill up the water container at the bathroom sink because the sink is so small; and it’s a bit of a hazard having the coffee machine perched on a narrow shelf up above light switches and plug sockets - beware of that.

The level of service is incredible. Staff are so attentive. And being able to contact them via WhatsApp is so convenient. All the little perks like breakfast, milk and cookies, and a glass of prosecco upon arrival were brilliant. Also, that was the comfiest bed I’ve ever slept in. The rooms may be small but there’s plenty of little spaces for your luggage, like the nook next to the fridge, at the foot of the bed, and below the bed. The decor is beautiful, and it’s super quiet (aside from the noisy vents).

Place is a bit dark - but that’s how it is intended to be. Wasn’t overly clear what was included in the room - E.g. the minibar and snacks.. however we didn’t ask either.

Staff at the HOG are really lovely and approachable. Room was cosy and interestingly decorated. We enjoyed the buttons for fizz & cookies that were included on our locked up package. This place is an experience in itself.

Although there is no complaints, unfortunately the hotel isn't worth the money I paid. Plus the images that was showed on the room on booking.com wasn't the room we received it was totally different. On the booking room images there was a copper bath.

The staff couldnt do enough for you
