How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Breakfast- Very chaotic, no plates, large and side. Food that should have been hot was barely lukewarm, nowhere to sit initially, at 8:00hrs Checking out - delayed by such a slow process but luckily not time pressured. Invoice incorrect, stayed 2 nights, invoice stated just 1!!

Clientele hanging around outside was a bit frightening but security guard inside hotel was on the ball the whole time and I felt safer with him there

a bit expensive but so has everything else! It was bit confusing trying to get the room serviced as the door hanging label seemed to be aimed at NOT getting the room serviced. I guess they are trying to cut down on coast but the saving is not really being passed on to the customer. I didn't like that I had to use Whatsapp to contact reception for towels, toilet rolls etc as there was no phone in the room. But overall I has a pleasant stay and the staff were nice.
Breakfast was fairly good. Friendly staff (so important)

No hot water first and second evening to shower and wash my hair,exactly the same thing happened 5 years ago when I came with friends.

The room was clean but very small as was the bathroom.
The room was clean, but very small. Staff were welcoming and polite. The underground parking was handy but scary to get into due to the difficult angle.

TV didn't work very well or all the time. It could always find service. And when I did find service, I couldn't change the channel or the TV would stop working

Décor was dated and needed some minor improvements, Loud location which the 2 double windows could did not stop. car park was hard to navigate in a saloon car.

Room wasn't ready when we arrived (just after check-in time). Pillows very thin and hard. Hotel room in need of upgrade - stained carpet, dusty skirting boards, shower in bath.
Great location for Hippodrome and short walk to Bullring shopping centre. Also very close to train station. Family room was a good size. Good price for budget/basic hotel.

I would have liked a hand towel to use as well as a bath towel. I think it's more hygienic to have a separate towel for general hand washing. One of the lifts was out of the service during our stay. We could use the stairs when it was busy. That was fine until we came to check out and had to carry heavy luggage downstairs. The one lift in use was so busy with a lot of people checking out as well and then the maids using it to bring their trolleys up and down with linen and to clean the rooms. The lift was in the basement for a good 5-10 mins at one point when I assume it was being loaded. So we gave up waiting and had to carry our bags down stairs.
Location perfect. Very friendly and attentive staff. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice. Again staff efficient and pleasant.
