Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing it was great and everything we needed.
From the moment of booking our host Iain couldn't be more accommodating, leading up to the visit he kept us informed of how to reach the property, entry and lots of other useful information. Inside the property it was spotless and the facilities were everything you could need. We particularly enjoyed the log burner with plenty of logs and kindling for our stay. The beds were comfortable and the underfloor heating was fantastic for some chillier mornings. THE VIEW is also incredible.

United StatesThe location was ideal . You literally wake up to a beautiful view of the North Atlantic Ocean. The bed is so comfortable and the house was spotlessly clean with all the needed amenities including a washer and dryer . It’s so warm and comfortable, peaceful, with lovely fresh air. We also loved the quiet little town with a few restaurants , a few mini markets and an overwhelming amount of beautiful natural scenery to enjoy. The people here are so welcoming.

United KingdomThe very low door entry/porch into kitchen There's no sign and sadly when people came round to visit/pick us up 3 different people struck their heads on the very low door entry and it really hurt my friends head Maybe a sign to warn taller people would be helpful in the door entry/porch and/or at front door just to warn people above 5ft 3 or they could give themselves a very sore head
Perfect cottage good location fantastic sea views with everything you could need extremely happy with our choice

United KingdomWhile there was nothing I didn't like, I do think a dishwasher would have been advantageous in a property such as this. it would kust mean a cycle could be put on at night, in the morning or when leaving.
I loved the north facing location out onto the sea. It was the perfect location to see a sunrise and sunset and the summer dim. i was able to hear the concrake, a bird I had not heard for 35 years. It was just an idealic. I also had freshly baked panckes delivered to me one day by a neighbour.

United KingdomNothing to do with the cottage at all but there is no where close to eat and drink, so take good supplies.
The location of this cottage is amazing. Lovely little place with an amazing view. The beach close by was beautiful. A really thoughtful touch was the use of the owners binoculars.

United StatesThe only concern was the tub. It is a big step up into it, particularly if on the shorter side, and the door swings open on it if you try to hold it while stepping down. We found a high backed chair and used it for support. A grab bar would most likely resolve the concern.
Incredible location, arrived late at night, what a treat to wake up to the beautiful view! We loved hiking and exploring the area of Port Ness. The house had everything we needed and felt so cozy, particularly with some impressive winds hitting it. It was a terrific place to spend 3 nights!

United KingdomThat we only stayed for two nights. And that I didn't get more coleslaw through the CalMac check-in.
We liked everything, to be honest. Three men, over 50, and not a gripe in sight. Clean, warm, with all the bits you need. Fire laid ready to light when we came in, tonnes of hot water for showers - I can't fault it. Iain kept in touch before and during our stay. Beds comfy, rooms cosy and wifi easily handled our three devices. You would be hard pressed to get a better place. We got to reconnect with family, see old haunts and spent a topping afternoon in the Ness Archives. (Incidentally, the coleslaw from Cross Stores is, frankly, the best I've tasted. I smuggled some back to Easter Ross on the Seaforth, and so far, no-one's rumbled me.) If we get a chance, I'll be taking Mrs Ross and our squalling offspring to 5 Adabrock - they'll love it. If not, they'll be swimming home.
