Cheap with parking and good location for access to public transport. Also in a nice part of the city. Room was clean and had everything you need for short stay.

It's not about what I didn't like, but when you stay at an old hotel which is 2 star rated you get what you get, and it was for work purposes. I was there predominantly to sleep. It's not the type of hotel I stay at when I go on city breaks for personal holidays. For me, the bed and pillows were just as comfortable at home. There was water to shower and brush my teeth. Hence, it was a pleasant stay!

The staff were great, friendly and very helpful. The location was perfect for what I needed in terms of travelling to various sites, local parks for relaxation in the evenings, and a mini supermarket for all my food requirements. Oh, and ample parking for my long wheelbase van!

There was a lot of gurgling noises from the plumbing in the bathroom which kept me awake. I think that the towel rail in the bathroom probably needed bleeding - the top was cold, while the bottom was very hot. The staff didn't confirm with me when I checked in how many nights I'd booked for, and unfortunately I'd made a mistake - I intended to book for 3, but had accidentally only booked for 2. This was my fault, but I felt that the reception staff made it much more stressful than it needed to be via a rather angry accusatory phonecall making a lot of assumptions and making demands of additional payment which really shook me up. I feel that if everything had remained polite and professional, I'd have been able to explain my mistake and correct it by paying for the additional night (which I was naturally happy to do!) much quicker and without the upset that was caused to me.

I had a clean and broadly comfortable room, with enough storage space for my bags, a fairly comfortable bed and all the amenities that I like to have (kettle, bath/shower, power sockets, supplied tea/coffee, shampoo.)

The whole place seems tired. Worn down. Some of the furniture in the room was a bit broken. The floor creaked, and made me worry I was disturbing people downstairs. I'm not fond of the number of plastic single-use things in the bathroom. The door didn't fit the frame well, and let in quite a bit of light from the hallway.

The room was warm, dry and clean. There was plenty of hot water, and the towels were fluffy enough. The bed was pretty comfy. I was only there for one night, so I'm struggling for things to comment on.

The staff went to great lengths in satisfying my request for a quiet room (206) which it was. Unfortunately it shared a corridor with another guest who was a heavy smoker, the odour was able to enter my room presumably under the door. Placed a towel on the floor beneath the door in the middle of the night.

The hotel was very noisy, could put this down to the location and other residents. Not a great deal the hotel can do about it but it not ideal when you are trying to sleep.

Atrocious water pressure. Shower couldn’t be used it was that bad. Fortunately there was a large bath to wash in. Very dated and walls between bedrooms very thin. Persons alarm in the adjacent room woke me up in the mornings! WiFi not the greatest.

Despite being scrupulously clean, it felt quite run down. Broken sink plug in bathroom, no bedside light (although main lights could be turned off from the bed). Light above sink, flickered constantly and couldn’t be used.

Excellent, helpful staff. Very flexible around check-in times, car parking and calling me a taxi. 24 hour front desk. Nice quiet location, and a very comfortable bed, combined to provide for an excellent night’s sleep.

Parts were broken and neglected. I realise it must be expensive to maintain a hotel and it felt the owners had given up trying.
