Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHeating didn't work at all, so was an uncomfortable, freezing cold night. Single glazing in windows meant it was quite noisy all night with people leaving clubs/bars and also from busy traffic outside hotel. Would also advise fridge temperature is turned down a bit, since it froze my food.
Great location and for a good price. Bed was very comfortable and bathroom well-stocked. Free wi-fi (didn't need to use), kettle, microwave, sinks and fridge all available in room. Private bathroom.

United KingdomIt was very dated and the facilities were not good, e.g. The mattress on the bed was absolutely awful, you shouldn't really be charging someone to sleep on that! Fortunately I slept well as I was so tired from having happened to sleep badly the previous night! The value for money is poor given that in many cities you can get a Travelodge for the same price with private bathroom, large comfortable bed and breakfast included.
Good communication (all online - no staff present), decent location (I didn't necessarily need a central place but it was what was available and would be handy if you wanted to be near the night life).

United Kingdomnot a lot considering the value for money except for one thing. they falsely advertised that they have parking available. hmmm not true, there is a NCP car park in Brighton, so they might as well advertise that they also have a cinema and swimming pool, those facilities also exist somewhere in Brighton. Spent too much time trying to find the mythical parking and ended up 3 miles away. you have been warned! picture attached

United KingdomI'd recommend using the bathroom on the floor below if you get given a top floor room. The WC up there is literally a closet at the top of some wonky stairs, so you practically have to put your feet in the shower to use the toilet and the only sink is in your room. It was also quite hot, even with a fan. So overall I feel it was a bit too pricey for what we got, but good as a crash pad if needed.
Great central location, excellent public transport links, 5mins from the beach.

DenmarkThe pressure in the shower could have been a bit better. It took a long time for it to warm up and then there wasn't a lot of water that came out, which was weird since the water pressure in the sink was just fine. Also there wasn't any place you could hang up your towels once you used them. The top rooms get very warm, we had to have the fan running 24/7 when we were in the room and have the window open. You also had to walk up a lot of stairs to get to the room.
It was a very nice location, within walking distance of the pier and many other things. The room was clean although a bit small. The bathrooms were shared although that wasn't really a problem.

United KingdomI wasn’t aware when booking I’d be on the fourth floor (with no lift) - the stairs are narrow too and dragging my bags up/down wasn’t fun. The shower room on the top floor is so small it’s almost unusable. I’m 6’3 so possibly not an issue for most people. The cold water tap on the basin in the room had virtually no water pressure - it was impossible to even wash my hands without using only the scaldingly hot water. One of the (two) plug sockets was broken and there were what looked a lot like toenail clippings stuck in the carpet… I was just in the room whilst transiting though the city and didn’t raise any of the above with the staff (who aren’t on site) - maybe they would have fixed things if I’d asked. I also paid anEXTORTIONATE rate for this room. if it had been c.£40 a night none of the above would have been an issue but at 3x that I felt ripped off.
The location is perfect (central enough without being right in the middle of the noise!) and it was easy to find. The self check-in worked perfectly.

United KingdomThe bathroom facilities on the top floor were inadequate, too small and cramped, and the shower not cleaned often enough. The lead for the kettle was too short, so had to use the kettle on the floor. Being in a central location was very good, but it meant it was very noisy overnight (from traffic, and people).
The location was excellent. Checking in was easy, with an automatic system. The room was clean and had appropriate facilities, the bed was comfy. They provided a fan, very useful in hot weather.
