Decor was rather tired and lacking in any sort of charm. Floor lamp in bedroom didn’t work and the hairdryer was sticky as were the salt and pepper grinders in the restaurant.

Staff very friendly. Room clean. Dinner excellent. Service at both dinner and breakfast was very good. I appreciated having a proper pot of tea at breakfast and the muesli was excellent.

As I have said, I am happy with pretty much everything. All I would like to see changed/upgraded is the tech in the rooms. I had Room 1 this time (Penthouse), a lovely room. However, the TV was very dated, small, and only viewable from the Sofa. As such, for ease, I used my iPad. To be fair, this is the new norm nowadays. Although I like to connect my phone or iPad to the TV or speaker to play music, This is becoming more and more common in hotel rooms.

I have stayed at Lanes a few times. Different Rooms each time and happy each time. For Hotels around the Yeovil Area Lanes is the best for sure. I would and do recommend it. The staff are fantastic, very friendly and chatty.

The shower big let down

Good breakfast location was spot on the room was spotless very clean y the only thing that let it down was the shower really hard to get in and out and couldn’t move the shower head which meant the bathroom floor would get soaked enough if you put the shower mat down

Rooms are in a brand new annexe so pics of the old school original building (much extended) are a touch misleading. Room was borderline too warm with heating off on a British Autumn day: suspect temperatures in room would be poisonous in summer…

I can think of no way that Josh, the duty manager, could have been more helpful. Good food and top breakfast.

Exceptional staff service.We were staying for a wedding being held in the hotel. Everything went super smoothly, and the attentive staff wee wonderful.

Firstly, checked into wrong room and needed to move. Second, told breakfast cut off was 9:30am, but when going down to breakfast at 9:10 we were told we were too late for breakfast but they’d still serve us. Odd and frustrating given the cost and the fact the leisure facilities were out of order (key selling point of hotel). Thirdly, after checking out and just finished loading the car, a member of staff rushed across the car park and I was asked if I’d paid. I mentioned Booking.com took payment a few days ago and he said ok. A bit embarrassing and unprofessional. Not many things they had to get right really and overall pretty disappointing experience and as a result poor value for money. Unlikely to use Booking.com again or revisit the hotel. Shambles for the money paid £260 for 1 night.

Hotel was nice and breakfast too. The rest was a shambles.

We were in an eaves room which unfortunately did cause a few head bumps. The phone didnt work and the lights were very complicated to operate. There was no room service available after 9pm. However I passed this on to the duty manager who was lovely and very receptive. Also there is an M&S five minutes away for snacks. Staff really friendly and the whole place is exceptionally clean.
