Easy check in and out, nice bar

This is not a dislike, just an observation. The rooms are at ground level with parking in front. This is great, if you don't want stairs, but the large glass windows, which give plenty of light, also mean no privacy from people walking past from the cars parked in front. There are vertical blinds to give you privacy, but if you're there during the day it makes the room dark. We were only there in the evening so it didn't matter for us anyway.

I booked this as I was attending a local event with a friend and just needed good basic accommodation for the night at a good price. For what I paid I was expecting just that, but the hotel was way above that. Good rooms, clean, basic but with modern ensuite shower (excellent), flat screen TV and wi-fi. The staff were very friendly and there was a generous continental breakfast. A full cooked breakfast was available, but we didn't book that. The location for us was excellent and despite being on the main road, there was no noise disturbance. There was a good bar, but we didn't try the restaurant as we ate at the event we were attending. The hotel is obviously very popular with nice sitting out areas which were very busy as the weather was excellent when we were there. There is also a good sized car park. Well done to all the staff for making this a popular and good value hotel. Definitely recommended if you don't need anything fancy and good value. It's better than that.

There was a music night on when I was there which meant it was very noisy until 2am.

There was an event on - Elvis Tribute (we weren't told). The car park was over full so we had to park on the grass. The music went on until 2am and then people were leaving and standing under the overhang of our room booking taxis and saying farewells loudly. If you plan to stay here, check if there is something like this on.

The room was clean and comfortable and had an entrance direct from the room to the car park, handy as I had a dog with me. Good hot and powerful shower.

Staff were nice hotel nice inside, but rooms in need of upgrade. Could do with plug sockets by the beds and the big mirror moving onto the wall by the plugs from the wardrobe door.

Breakfast was at 8 am -too late for us and asked if we could go down early and help ourselves to cereal and toast - this was reluctantly allowed - think communication problem!

Room very tired. Chipped paintwork on wooden surfaces including the vanity table. Bed too bouncy and mattress not supportive , although I appreciate this is subjective. Shower tray very slippery and IMO dangerous. Old yellowing heater in bathroom not working (might have been switched off at the mains but couldn't reach to that high to find out).

Staff all genuinely helpful and friendly. For all my criticisms below, it looks like work is being carried out on adjacent rooms so hopefully they are being spruced up. Plenty of choice at the included continental breakfast.

There was some form of rave in one of the rooms that went on until early hours. My friends room also had no electricity, there was no answer at reception and when we checked out there was no offer of a refund or compensation for the fact she had no power, so couldn’t use the shower etc!

The hotel is dog friendly, why we chose it. We were allowed to eat together at breakfast and at dinner in the bar, with the dog. This was very important to us. Tara and Shaun on reception were very friendly and helpful. Parking facilities were excellent and free. The free continental breakfast was nice , good choice of food for dinner too.

The position was exactly what we wanted as it was walking distance to the people we came to see.

The window in room 11 is badly needing replaced as it is misted up all the time and the opening part of the window does not seal when closed, There is no toilet roll holder. There is no soap dish in the lovely shower. Cistern flush button is very stiff and noisy.

I like the location. It fits in well with my plans. Good breakfast in good surroundings. Friendly staff are on hand if help needed.
