The hotel is tired and in need of some cleaning up and renovation. The water temperature in the shower is impossible to regulate. The hotel has a musty smell that permeates the entire establishment. Lights in the hallway were turned off and made it difficult to find the door lock to use the key to the room, not to mention potentially dangerous as it was hard to see. We came down to breakfast 30 minutes prior to the finish time. The breakfast provisions had not been topped up and the choices were then limited. It would appear that the owner of the hotel is penny pinching at every opportunity and does not want to spend money to improve the hotel. This hotel has plenty of potential which will one day be realised with new owners. T

The bed was ok, and breakfast was sufficient.

Definitely a budget hotel with potential and best if you have a car . Front desk Nora is a hoot.

Definitely needs a reno, fresh paint, comfier beds, incense or something to take the strange smell away in the hallways (rooms were fine, no doubt bec en suite bathroom window was open and kept the room nice and chilly).

The outside looks pretty cool . The inside has an odd smell like too many fish meals. There isnt an elevator so prepare to carry luggage (not a big deal for us as we had light bags). Not a cozy place but has so much potential if there was someone who could put some work in to it. The little porch has potential There two beds in our room. one was very hard , one was okay. Bathroom was a throwback to another era. Toilet was fine. Window ...we had a hard time closing it at first but noticed all the rooms seemed to have the bathroom windows slightly open. We however did like the server at the restaurant . She was lovely and so helpful. The woman at the front desk when we were leaving, Nora, was an absolute gem. We had a good chat and laugh with her. Often it's the people who make it better. She and the server both were great. My daughter and I were only there for a night and there is a lot to see if you have a car (we did) and the drive is about 15 minutes or so from approachable points to Loch Ness. But there was a lovely old castle ruins to explore 12 minutes away and the little town is very cute. New area of townhomes was going up and definitely a cute area. I think if someone had the money to do a great reno on this hotel it could be absolutely amazing. One bonus was that it is very quiet and maybe it is just a slow time of year but didn't seem to be a lot of people around.

The hotel was rundown and our room was damp. The wallpaper was coming away from the walls and there was only an electric heater with no instruction on how to use. TV didn’t work. The towel rail in the bathroom was fixed with insulating tape. Outside was untidy and grass needed cut.

The location was great. The breakfast was good and the staff friendly. The communal area had new carpets

The shower water alternated between scalding hot and cold. You couldn't adjust to any level that would not include scalding. There no tissues.

It was quiet, comfortable and with plenty of room. It's location was ideal for us.

Wifi only available in one area. Not hard to get everywhere (we were told it was an old building, we just stayed in a 17th century castle that had excellent wifi, just need more access points) When we arrived we were told we could not have an evening meal as had a bus party coming in and the chef could not cope. As a paying guest I think we should have been able to get a meals. Too many signs telling you what you can’t do… there were three telling you how to use the shower curtain.

    Good location. Clean and tidy

The Hotel was a little jaded and in need of a refresh. It has just opened after the winter break and there was a smell of damp on entering the building at the reception and going to the room. The room had a foosty/damp smell also.

Did not like the paper cups in the room. The Bar was ridiculously priced, only bottled Ale available or spirits at an eye watering £6 for a single, avoid if possible, use the local Fiddlers Inn instead. Room was cold.

Location was within easy reach of local village, shops/pub and restaurant, close to Loch Ness Centre and a short drive to Urquhart Castle and waterfalls. Room was comfortable but cold, with TV, WiFi and kettle. Breakfast had a good choice of cooked or cereal/toast/croissants.

The decor is old and often not particularly in keeping with the exterior of the (original) building - which is charming. There is a hotel sitting room on the ground floor but it is not especially comfortable to relax in. It would have improved if they had lit the fire - but I am afraid they hadn't.

The staff are friendly and welcoming. The hotel restaurant was closed the evening we were there and they organised a table for us with the village restaurant located 100m away (which was excellent). We were upgraded too - which is always a nice touch. The bed was comfortable. A really good breakfast.

Quite a (damp?) odour in the stairs and hallways. Room was cold, an extra heater was used most nights. Felt guilty about using it though. We chose this for the ‘character’ though another hotel in the village had refurbished rooms. That might’ve been better.

Visiting a friend in Drum who couldn’t put us up. Very easy re location. Staff on reception excellent and friendly. Easy parking outside.

For second successive time I have stayed, they could not be relied upon to provide an evening meal. Last time we were asked to go elsewhere because they were dealing with a busload of tourists who they thought deserved priority and this time they gave the chef the night off at short notice. Pity because there is plenty else to recommend it.

Returning customer - third time I have stayed here. Comfortable, good location, good atmosphere, interesting tartan themed decor with historical pictures evoking the Jacobites. Food is good and there is a pleasant bar & restaurant.
