How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

There was nothing not to like
Very, very rarely do you stay in an establishment where everything is just perfect……and this was it. I would have no hesitation at all to recommend a stay….I certainly will return on my next visit to Yorkshire.

I think this is about booking.com, not the hotel. We were told that the price was reduced from £135 to £115. Then it reverted back to £135 when we were asked to pay. Very misleading.
Everyone was really friendly and helpful. It was a lovely little hotel. The had free charging for our EV.

Genuinely was lovely - the most minor point that we could watch TV in bed at night as the casting or the apps weren’t working.

Nothing at all
Absolutely lovely stay! Staff were exceptional - polite, friendly and helpful. Our room was well appointed and very clean - super comfortable bedding, lovely sized bathroom and quiet. We had afternoon tea booked and can highly recommend it - thoroughly enjoyable. We also spent the evening in the bar and it was buzzy with a good atmosphere - service was excellent and we were kept topped up all night! Breakfast was lovely - fresh and hot and the guy who served us was excellent. Can recommend the salmon & scrambled egg! Really enjoyable stay - absolutely nothing not to like!

It’s a shame this hotel isn’t in a ‘go to’ location (in the middle of a nice village) but finding it so convenient for the M62 means it would be a piece of luxury to break a linger journey.
The staff were so accommodating and welcoming even though we arrived at 00:45 after a v long drive. The detail, decor and thought given to what a guest might need is brilliant. The breakfast was exceptionally good.

The attitude of the staff that welcome me and the guy serving last night, I think these two staff will do with equality and diversity training because their attitude damages the good name of the business. The lady that checked me out was very professional and kind, so that means it's just those two staff that doesn't know what they are doing.
I liked the property and its high state of decoration, very unique and posh..... well done

No spa, pool or gym.
The Manor House has ten rooms and an apartment. The Hotel and grounds are set out very well and it oozes style. The room was excellent, food good and the staff were extremely helpful. I would recommend this hotel.

The room was spacious and well appointed. The staff were friendly whilst also being professional and efficient. The roof top terrace was delightful. The restaurant was spacious and the dining chairs very comfortable. The food choice and quality were excellent. Had coffee and a drink in the bar. A great nights sleep in a comfortable bed. Wonderful way to celebrate our anniversary. Definitely on our list of places to go again.

Nothing... my stay couldn't have been better, very enjoyable experience and great value for a hardworking SME.
Location was close to motorway and I was using my car so this was a bonus. The facilities were excellent, with a high quality boutique feel. Bathroom was very clean and sufficient towing. Nice touches such as robes and slippers.
