Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThere isn’t enough space to say what I didn’t like, the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in, and I’ve stayed in some dumps over the years. Place is dated to begin with but half expected, the dirt was just an added disappointment. Oh also nearly forgot the fish factory directly across the road starts operating trucks and machinery at 5am, just an added bonus.
I’d rather do a tour of the Helmand Province than stay here again, would be more welcoming to say the least. Staff only interested in getting drunk and partying to the small hours, sworn at in-front of my children. The music echoed through the room till past 1am, shouting and arguing from the bar, rough as hell and that’s just the staff. The land lady refused to turn the music down at midnight, this was the second night, after promising the first night it would be different. She then stated she makes no promises and it’s a public bar. Then turned the music even louder. This resulted in really nosing the people up in the bar, to top it all off the punters began fighting that really added to noise.

United KingdomDon’t even know where to start: - beds were uncomfortable - bedrooms very dated and needing a lot of repairs - unorganised and lengthy evening meal service, having to ask for menus & asking for drinks orders multiple times - not a lot of parking spaces - very loud music playing until the early hours of the morning on both the nights stayed, went down to ask if they can turn music down as young children are trying to sleep to which we were swore at then the music was turned up even louder!!
Good food at evening meal

United KingdomDog friendly hotel....was not told we would have to pay extra for our dog. Then we had to give our card details for any "damages" which was fine because we had a deluxe sea view room. WHAT A JOKE!!!! If a small dated dirty room with a view of the seafood factory is a deluxe sea view room then that's great! The room was a complete mess. Layers and layers of dust.. bath was so dirty and full of other people's hair! I will not be going back and would not recommend this hotel to anyone else! Not Evan a 1 star!!!

United KingdomThe hot water went off in the morning but these things happen and the staff did their best
The hotel is in need of a bit of a refurb these days but I was staying for work in the area so for £50 you can’t complain. The room was very clean and comfortable and had a view over the Moray Firth The breakfast was awesome, with haggis alongside the usual offerings. Overall a decent stay

United KingdomClearly in need of updating showers and hot and cold taps but at the price of a room and the fabulous view its value for money.
Located on the Harbour Road within walking distance to the town centre and various walks to places beside the sea for dolphin watching. I had a fantastic view of the sea and was able to watch the boats arriving and leaving the harbour. The car park was easy access right outside the Hotel. Staff were extremely nice and helpful with a request I had .The food in the restaurant was tasty and a decent portion served promptly. I would definitely stay again.

CanadaTipsy pub patrons being loud outside, under the room makes sleeping difficult, but it didnt last long, so that was great.
The bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable! If staying on the waterfront side, closing the curtains is a must, as the sky never gets dark.

United Kingdomin the first room there was mould in the bathroom, the toilet leaked, I booked a superior double and was given a standard double, when I complained about the room, size and poor condition we were offered another room for the night, then for the next three nights we were given a choice of one of three rooms so we picked the least worst one of the three, the room we spent our first night in was a room with a sea view but you had to look between the two factories opposite the hotel to see the sea, all of our issues were dealt with the very helpful staff as the manager was nowhere to be seen for the four nights of our stay, I would not book here again.
the only thing that we liked was the hotel was in Buckie.
