How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.

Ron outdated, bathroom needs a refit, asked for quiet room and was put on a road where frankly it was like no window was in place as again, these need replacing, basic coffee and tea, kettle didn’t work, air con rattled continuously all night…. Not what I expect from a 4* in central London. More 3* compared to others we have stayed at.

In room WiFi not good at all, We didn’t really plan to watch tv but keen to see news, and WiFi kept dropping out so tv stop start. A very very minor issue, as we were to explore and have fun outside !
Lovely warm welcome, staff super friendly, polite and very helpful . Concierge team fab at mak8ng suggestions where t9 eat and giving helpful tips on how t9 get various places.

The design is outdated. But for the prices are very good to others nearby hotel.

… no memo paper and pen for when suddenly one gets a call with someone giving an unfamiliar address… so somewhat chaotic trying to find something to write on. Otherwise practically perfect.

Breakfast offered a good selection, staff clearing tables promptly. Location was excellent - we chose the hotel for proximity to the Museums. Were able to walk (in good weather!) The request to have adjoining rooms was met.

The telephone in the bedroom did not work. I called it to the attention of reception and was told to press + before dialing. There is no + on the dial pad. After dinner, reception told me the technician reported that my phone was working. It was not working and the technician came to my room around midnight and told me that my phone was not working. The problem was complicated and many phones in the hotel were not able to dial outside the hotel.

The room was very disappointing, with the wow factor of the reception area etc & the nightly cost i expected the room to be stunning . Very basic , was like walking into a premier inn bedroom . The bathroom was tiny & the fan didn’t work . There was no room to move around the beds etc & the air con unit in the room did not work . Very limited tea & coffee making supplies in the room & again very basic , I’ve had better in a premier inn. Very limited plug sockets in the room .
The reception area was stunning , the breakfast was excellent, the bar was reasonably priced & very relaxed with a nice atmosphere . The staff were lovely, very welcoming & nothing was to much trouble .

The location is second to none. Excellent facilities and rooms are spacious especially for families. The accessibility with the underground which is only few steps away from the hotel

AC didn’t work properly so room was too warm and couldn’t open the window to get any fresh air

The first room we got was on the first floor on the top of a casino entrance. Really loud and could not sleep. The next day after requesting few times, we got the good surprise to relocated in a room on the 4th floor where everything was fine.

The rooms require some updating / maintenance- such things as air con filter thick with dust when entering the room, bathroom toilet roll holder hanging off the wall, damaged furniture in the room and what looked like mould on the windows (didn’t realise until the day we left ! )
On arrival the property looked really nice, and had a lovely welcome. The location was good.

The bathroom in my room whilst clean could probably do with a facelift as looking a bit outdated now
