Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAs I've said above, the water pressure in the shower was disappointingly low, although it was enough to serve its purpose. Again, as I said above, the temperature control on the shower was impossible to move more than a small fraction. The owner explained that they specialise in functions - weddings and such like - and I would be wary about staying for a weekend, in case of noisy partying in the large marquee just across the garden from the bedroom window. There was no function on when I stayed, so no problem, but I felt a sense of unease because of the possibility.
All the staff (and the owner) were super friendly and helpful - but be aware that, when there is nobody in Reception, the call button is hiding on the wall in the entrance passage, round the corner from the Reception desk. The food was to die for! Dinner - not cheap, but very reasonably priced, given the quality - was delicious, with tastes I've never experienced before. Their chef is evidently a genius! Breakfast (included in the price I paid) was very generous, including several rashers of bacon, half of a really good, meaty tomato (none of your watery balls with a thin layer of flesh!), and a sausage that was clearly a premium local product. The plate was hardly big enough to hold everything! The bed was comfortable, the room spacious and warm. Unfortunately, the pressure in the shower was rather low, and the temperature control on the shower could hardly be moved at all. Also, the toilet was badly placed so that, in leaning forward to wipe, one's head pushes against the heated towel rail. These drawbacks would make me want to give only four and a half stars, but that's not possible, and my stay overall was so pleasant and enjoyable that I'm giving five out of five - it would be unfair to reduce it to four. I'll certainly return for the wonderful food and service, and I would be happy to stay overnight again as well.

United KingdomThe bed was a bit soft for my liking. The bathroom was a little tired. There was no soap for use in the sink. But these were minor faults in an otherwise splendid stay.
The location was great - convenient for Reading, but out in the countryside - and the gardens were lovely, even in the drab, grey weather of a British summer. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The food was excellent - Cumberland sausages, mash and mixed greens followed by chocolate mousse with a raspberry coulis and a little ball of ice cream.

United KingdomI had room number one and it has the extractor fan for the kitchen outside the window and the room is quite warm but a fan is provided. Scrambled egg for breakfast was over cooked and rubbery but selection was good.
The staff were friendly and the hotel is lovely but what really makes it a great place to stay is the garden, its a good size and well managed. Great place to sit outside and enjoy a summer evening. The food I had in the in the evening was fantastic.

United KingdomVery little ...
Friendly communication before arrival, which translated into a personal welcome that checked I had managed to eat in time before I got there. Impressively warm and informed and still utterly professional. Created a great impression. It's a traditional building with lots of quirks. It's super-clean, with a homely welcoming feel to the room. Hot water, clean fluffy towels and a nice warm bed. Utterly what I needed.
