Kitchen was closed, unsure how long this will go on. Unfortunately staff had left dirty glasses & coffee cups in our room, certainly could be a simple "oops" and easily overlooked; look for patterns when reading reviews rather than one-offs. Could do with a bit of maintenance: bad valve seats in faucets, loo paper holder falling off wall, no major deal breakers. We would still consider staying again as the value was there and staff were wonderful.

Wonderful central location. Extremely friendly and helpful staff! Nice-sized room. An overall great value with a couple of caveats.

Breakfast and evening meal not available but there were lots of other nice places very nearby. The website didn't make this clear but we were advised of this when we called to book in and hosts were helpful in recommending other places.

Lovely, freshly decorated, stylish, comfortable rooms. Welcoming host who was kind about our muddiness (we had been walking the Offa's Dyke trail). Good central location.

Very very hard mattress. Central heating only switched on at 7 am.

General feel of the place. Steeped in history. Room was very clean and comfortable. Staff more than friendly and accommodating. Dog friendly in every sense of the phrase.

The only downside was we arrived on a Saturday evening and due to the live music they stopped serving food at 18.30. But was not much of a problem for us as there were plenty of other places to eat in town

Very dog friendly staff were extremely helpful and considerate to us and our four legged family member. Rooms were very clean and comfortable and there was plenty of tea and coffee thank you.

Booking.com need to make sure there are enough appropriate beds for the number of guests. The Punch House have tried to get the right information on the site but are ignored.

It was great that the manager managed to get us a single room in addition to the family room, which only had 3 single beds. Totally Booking.com's fault as they knew we were 2 adults and 2 teenagers as they asked the age of the children at the time of booking.

Breakfast was not available like booking.com specified at the time??? Disappointed is an understatement as we had an incredibly poor breakfast elsewhere before we needed to be back and vacate our room. Manager agrees this should have been clear to us before booking ahead of our stay.

Lovely venue and beautiful spaces - will hope we can sit in the open area in the morning if ever we stay again. Wonderful manager and staff are very polite.

The room was amazing and super clean, but the shower drain did not work very well.

amazing atmosphere and views from the window of the room were excellent. Also the property is super chill about bringing the dog with us, and in the end it was an amazing place to stop while hiking through the wye valley. Pub downstairs is excellent, very smooth check in and check out as well :)

Breakfast was not available though this was not really a problem as there are plenty of cafes and restaurants around. The hotel has no carpark but the staff were helpful in letting us unload our luggage and taking it up to our room whilst we parked our car.

Bathroom had recently been refurbished. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Location was central and our room overlooked the square.

From the minute we rang to book the room, to checking in and checking out, we were made so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were lovely and so spacious. It's an old building so the floors are a bit creaky but the beds were comfortable, facilities in room, great. The restaurant was lovely, the menu wasn't huge and typical pub food but it tasted lovely

Due to the kitchen equipment being upgraded there were no breakfast facilities and they stopped serving food at the hotel at 6pm. This didn't affect our stay too much as it was easy to find other eateries on the doorstep.

Excellent location for bars, restaurants, shops and cafes. Always plenty of hot water for showering and towels were changed every day.

It was unfortunate that my room was directly above the pub/bar area so general chatter and the music playing were quite audible until the pub shut doors at night.

This was an extremely comfortable, well heated, cosy room in a fantastic location in Monmouth. Check in was very straightforward and simple and so too was checkout.
